Common sailor butterfly

Among the dry twigs and fallen leaves, there was a plant whose leaves were still fresh green and looked young. It was there, at the top of the plant, that I found a common sailor butterfly standing gracefully. Its wings were perfectly spread, displaying a very beautiful pattern. The blackish brown blended beautifully with the pure white. A color combination that perfectly matched the spot where it was perched.

When I first saw it, the butterfly was flapping its wings. However, when I got close to it, it stopped flapping. It kept its wings fully open and motionless. It was as if it knew I wanted to photograph it. So it tried to strike the most beautiful pose for my camera screen with its wings fully open.

While I was taking the photo, the butterfly didn't move its wings at all. It only occasionally moved its antennae. This act seemed simple, but it made me quite happy. I felt very fortunate to have met it, and given me the time to enjoy it firsthand and capture it.

If you want to see a butterfly like the one I encountered, you can go to a place with flowering plants. These butterflies love flowers, typically visiting them when the sun is slightly warmer. The ones I encountered here were still very cool, as it was still early in the morning. Most of the insects were still relaxing in the undergrowth, though some had already visited the flower gardens.
