Cockroach

A cockroach was resting upon a seemingly ordinary green leaf. When one mentions cockroaches, most people immediately picture those annoying little creatures that frequent kitchens and bathrooms. Yet, the cockroach I encountered was vastly different from those kitchen or bathroom dwelling types. This one favored the open outdoors and lush greenery; I found it nestled among small roadside bushes, sitting motionless on a leaf.

The cockroach simply stayed put, making no noise neither shouting nor singing to vie for my attention. It stood calmly, showing no signs of wavering or haste. It appeared perfectly at peace living its life as it was meant to be lived, even though its presence went unnoticed. It chose to remain calm, to endure, and to simply carry on with its life story. It showed no anger when the sun scorched its body, when heavy rain drenched it, or when the wind occasionally tried to sweep it away.
