Brownish yellow butterfly

On a seemingly ordinary green leaf, a tiny creature basked in the gentle sunlight. It was a brownish yellow butterfly from the Nymphalidae family. In Latin, this butterfly is known as Acraea terpsicore, a small, rough-winged butterfly species.

From a distance, I saw its wings fully extended. When I got close, its wings closed tightly, and it instantly became a statue, completely motionless. Even though I had been near it for quite some time, it was strangely still, not a single part of its body moving, including its antennae. It truly was a force to be reckoned with. It deserved a thumbs up.

The butterfly was incredibly beautiful, bright orange with distinctive black spots scattered across the center of its wings. A thick black line ran along the edge of its wings, embracing the entire edge. Small, faded orange dots appeared on the tips of its hind wings. Upon closer inspection, these dots resembled bright, sparkling beads, contrasting with the deep black edges.

This is evident when its wings are fully extended. When its wings are fully closed, it also displays extraordinary beauty. The colors remain the same, orange, black, and faded orange. However, the pattern on the wingtips is more pronounced. The faded orange dots appear slightly larger, resembling tiny lacework, specially designed by nature.
