Greetings again my dear friends of this prestigious platform, there are many living species that share or coexist with us in this beautiful home which we have called planet Earth, on other occasions we have been related to some marine species that are part of our essential ecosystem, and the important thing to know some of its characteristics is that we can value their existence, and also learn to understand that like us they are part of the precious balance of our planet.

In this opportunity we will relate in a general way with a beautiful marine species such as the famous blue surgeonfish (Paracanthurus hepatus), and without a doubt, in the depths of our marine waters we can find a large number of living beings that make of these marine depths a world full of great color and variety of beautiful species that we could hardly choose one as the most beautiful or fascinating of all.

Throughout our history we have been structuring any kind of scientific-technological tool in order to know more and more about marine species and in this way to understand their essential importance for our ecosystem, as for the blue surgeon fish we can start by saying that its name refers to the spines it has on its body which resemble a scalpel.

The place of origin of this beautiful marine species is related to Australian waters, however, these fish have gone to populate other areas of the planet such as Japan, Samoa, among others, if we refer to its size we can express that it does not have great size since usually in adulthood they reach a little over 30 centimeters, and whose average weight is 7 to 8 kilograms, and as for its body it has an intense blue color with two black stripes and a yellow fin as you can see in the gif at the beginning of this article.

These fish at a young age have a little aggressive character and manage to live in harmony with other species in their environment, however, over time their character increases and they become more defensive, as for their diet this type of fish can feed on both small animals and plants, therefore, they are considered omnivorous fish, finding in their menu plankton, larvae, small insects, among other foods such as eggs of other fish.

In relation to its reproduction we can say that like other marine species, the male goes in search of the conquest of the female to achieve its purpose and carry out the act of fertilization, this type of fish species manages to reach sexual maturity at the age of two years and this occurs for both sexes, the ideal time for reproduction of these fish is in spring because the temperature conditions are considered ideal for this purpose.

Due to its beauty and colorful this type of fish is considered a striking piece for aquariums worldwide, however, there are many considerations to take if we want to have it in captivity because this type of fish require special care, such as having a large amount of water, high levels of oxygen whose temperature is between 15 to 25 degrees Celsius, and also take into account a high luminosity and a varied diet between plant and animal nutrients.

There are many marine species that we can find in the depths of the seas and oceans and each of them playing an essential role for the necessary balance of our precious ecosystem, which is why we must always be attentive to learn a little more about them and thus value their existence among us.
