Space is great and is familiar to everyone. Everybody will concur with the fact that space is filled with secrets and unknown things. We also concur that the discovery of alien life would be amongst the best discoveries in human history. The majority of scientists are seeking evidence of alien beings and they do it with the help of high-end telescopes and other devices. This is why when an object that is not part of the usual is observed in space it draws the attention of everyone. The Wow Signal is among such time-honored detection which occurred many years ago and still, no one can comment it adequately.

The Wow Signal became known to me several years ago when I was reading about the mysteries of the space and I have to admit it made a great impression on me. Prior to reading this signal I believed that in case there are aliens we would have been able to figure out by now that they exist. However, the Wow Signal has made me understand that perhaps we have already been sent a signal by aliens but we are unaware of it. This is an aggravating circumstance, can you conceive? There was something very unusual and we have not determined just what it was. Let me explain what happened.

A radio telescope in Ohio in 1977 picked up a very strong signal in space. This signal was very strong and abnormal that when the scientist who was verifying the data wrote Wow on the printout paper. This is why it was named the Wow Signal. The signal was 72 seconds and was made in the direction of Sagittarius constellation. The specialty of this signal was its frequency. The frequency was 1420 megahertz and it is very close to the frequency of hydrogen.

Scientists assume that this frequency would be used in case intelligent aliens want to communicate since hydrogen is the most widespread element in the universe and any civilized people would be aware of it. I suppose this argument holds and it gives greater chances that the signal was alien.

The thing is that the signal was not detected ever again. Numerous attempts were made by scientists to locate the same signal and at the same place but they were unsuccessful. Assuming that it was indeed an alien signal then why did it occur once only? This is one of the questions that bothers a lot of people including me. Other scientists believe that perhaps the aliens put the signal on every direction similar to a lighthouse and we just caught it by chance. However not all scientists believe in the alien theory and they believe that it was brought about by some natural occurrence or perhaps as a result of interference by the earth.

Currently there are a number of theories that exist concerning the Wow Signal. Other individuals hold the view that it was caused by a comet that was emitting hydrogen gas. It is believed to have been caused by the military satellites or other human-made equipments. However, no such theories can describe the signal perfectly. I believe that the reality is that we are not even sure what made the Wow Signal happen and, perhaps, we will never know unless we receive it again or discover some other indications.

I believe the Wow Signal is something that teaches us a lesson. We must continue to look and make our minds open. Perhaps one day we will receive another signal or possibly we will discover more clues of the alien life. We can just speculate and guess at this time what the Wow Signal was.
