Malaysia Airlines MH370

Scientists have invented modern technology to trace all the things in our phones to our cars but the fact remains that a huge plane that had 239 people on it vanished without a footprint and no one could locate it. You can also concur with it that this would sound inconceivable in the contemporary world where satellites spy on everything. To my mind the loss of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 is one of the most irritating mysteries as we have all technologies and possibilities to find the answers to the questions of the families, who lost their loved ones, but we still could not find them. I mean that our intelligence is very useless at the time when it is really needed. I say it because this event had brought back to my mind how people can create wonderful things and then when misfortune hits we are powerless and lost.
Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 was lost on March 8, 2014 on its way to Beijing, Kuala Lumpur. The plane was launched as usual and all appeared well until it happened that it vanished off radar screens. I once believed that planes cannot fall the earth and vanish as they have a tracking system and communication gadgets but this flight proved me wrong. The cockpit to cockpit communication was standard and did not show that there was a problem. Then the transponder of the plane was switched off and it did not follow its intended route. I believe it does sound suspicious as though somebody intentionally made the plane vanish instead of it being by accident. In addition to this the majority of the initial hours following the disappearance were just wasted since the authorities did not know where to begin.

The passengers comprised 227 people of 14 countries and 12 crew members on board. You can just imagine how horrifying to their families it was when they had found that their loved ones were on a plane which disappeared into the air. To me the pain of these families cannot be explained by any words as they did not receive the closure as they did not receive the bodies to bury and an explanation of what has taken place. They were such households that spent days on the hope of some good news but were in reality getting nothing other than confusion and conflicting information by the authorities. The Malaysian government and airline officials were not transparent and helpful, which only served to make everything worse, by giving conflicting statements. I was not that lucky to experience that tragedy in my life, however, many times I have witnessed how the authorities are not good at managing the crisis and they prefer to blame other people instead of admitting their mistakes.
The search activities commenced right away and initially they searched in the wrong directions since no one was aware of the plane whereabouts. Subsequent satellite images revealed that MH370 continued to fly several hours after it was lost off radar and presumably crashed somewhere in the southern part of the Indian Ocean. In the olden days search parties had covered thousands of square kilometers of sea and found barely a single object. I discovered that since the sea is large and deep and has wreckage to seek is like seeking a needle in a hay stack. Thus I concluded that this was by far one of the most costly and widespread searches in the history of aviation but it brought very few results. And that way millions of dollars were used and the families do not have all answers.
Years after the disappearance there was some debris of the plane being washed up on shores of the islands in the Indian Ocean. These pieces were an affirmation that MH370 crashed but never clarified on why it crashed and the location of the prime location of the wreckage. I think that when people should know the truth, it is not sufficient to find a couple of pieces of debris. However, simultaneously I realized that people lost interest in discovery of MH370 with time when more tragic events happened in the news which is rather unfortunate.
There were numerous theories that came up concerning the fate of MH370. Others think it was hijacked and others consider it to be mechanical failure and others even give conspiracy theories of governments. These theories are interesting or annoying contentious by other means. These theories in rare instances provided a false hope to families or misinformation. They are the conspiracy theorists that said that the plane was either shot down or landed off someplace under cover but presented no concrete proofs. This is because unless one has concrete evidence, such theories just make the bereaved families suffer even more.

The official investigation ended that the plane is still missing and the reason of disappearance cannot be clearly observed. I believe that is actually a dissatisfactory ending following years of searching and investigating. In addition it demonstrates that although we have all the technology human beings are not as much in control as we want to think.
Hence it is not clear when MH370 will ever be fully recovered. They did not realize the extent to which doubt causes suffering and not being able to go on without the solutions is something that families cannot tolerate. I suppose that closure is more important than anything and proper search efforts is not bad a in my opinion.
