• The other day I was taking a walk in a forest near my home, to breathe fresh air and a little exercise, plus it is very good to disconnect from our day to day. So I want to share with you these beautiful photos of nature that I managed to capture and two curious insects that caught my attention and today we are going to learn who they are.

¡HOLA COMUNIDAD!🐛

• El otro día me encontraba haciendo una caminata en un bosque cerca de mi hogar, para respirar aire fresco y un poco de ejercicios, además de que es muy bueno para desconectar de nuestro día a día. Así que quiero compartirles estas hermosas fotos de la naturaleza que logré capturar y dos curiosos insectos que me llamaron la atención y el día de hoy vamos a aprender quiénes son.

• Ommatoiulus moreleti: This elongated friend has a rather peculiar name, but is popularly known as the Portuguese millipede, as the name suggests is family of millipedes, native to the west of the Iberian Peninsula, so it is normal that you can see it in Spain and Portugal, but have also been found in Australia, as they were introduced to the country illegally and today is considered an invasive pest that is affecting the ecosystem of the country, but the country has taken means of control of these animals. They were also introduced to the Atlantic islands and South Africa. This animal is the favorite food of European hedgehogs, and the beetle Ocypus olens, animals that cannot be found in Australia, for that reason it became a problem for the ecosystem.

• Ommatoiulus moreleti: Este amigo alargado tiene un nombre bastante peculiar, pero es conocido de manera popular como el milipede portugués, como el nombre lo indica es familia de los milpiés, nativo del oeste de la península ibérica, así que es normal que puedas verlo en España y Portugal, pero también han sido encontrados en Australia, ya que fueron introducidos al país de manera ilegal y a día de hoy es considerado como una plaga invasora que está afectando el ecosistema del país, pero el país ha tomado medio de control de estos animales. También fueron introducidos a las islas Atlánticas y Sur África. Este animal es el alimento favorito de los erizos europeos, y el escarabajo Ocypus olens, dichos animales que no se pueden encontrar en Australia, por ese motivo se volvió un problema para el ecosistema.

• Woodlouse: Now, next to the myelpie, we find this isopod. They are popularly known as cochineal because they usually live in old wood, but its scientific name is Oniscidea. They are also often referred to as lice or parasites, but it is neither one nor the other. This information will blow your mind, because this little friend has been the only crustacean that has evolved to be terrestrial, according to fossils found and studies done. So this friend belonged to the sea, but evolved to live on land. The females carry their eggs in their marsupium, that is, like a kangaroo that has a kind of pouch, where it provides oxygen and nutrients.

• Cochinilla: Ahora, al lado del mielpie, encontramos a este isópodo. Son conocidos popularmente como cochinilla porque suelen vivir en maderas viejas, pero su nombre científico es Oniscidea. También suelen ser dichas como piojos o parásitos, pero no es ni uno ni otro. Esta información te explotará la cabeza, ya que este pequeño amigo ha sido el único crustáceo que ha evolucionado a ser terrestre, según los fósiles encontrados y estudios realizados. Así que este amigo era perteneciente al mar, pero evolucionó para lograr vivir en la tierra. Las hembras transportan sus huevos en su marsupio, o sea, como un canguro que tiene una especie de bolsa, donde le proporciona oxígeno y nutrientes.
