Have you ever experienced stomach upset because of something you ate or drank and then end up becoming a constant visitor to your restroom and the question we always throw to the air is… "what did I eat?"
I remember last year December which was this just concluded Christmas holiday I actually eat wetin no nice😀 yeah it was a once time in a year event so we virtually wants to eat everything on the table regardless of how it was prepared where it was prepared and who actually prepared the kind food all I cared about or should I say "we" was to taste the whole variety of food on the table but after the whole so-called enjoyment we were left with the consequential effect of the foods we consume. For five days or more I became a regular customer at the toilet. It became so intense that every available site or cover can serve as a toilet for me including the bush because my stomach upset comes without proper announcement.
After about five days or more of nonstop stomach challenge I was rushed to the hospital for proper check up which the doctor diagnosed me of food poison now the food poisoning he meant is not the original "poisoning of someone's food by another" No, but that the some of the foods I ate were contaminated by microorganisms and I did a lot of food combinations that were not supposed to go together

I decided to make an inquiry about what actually contaminated the foods and how it did it and also share it with people to take proper precaution to prevent this food poisoning as it can be very dangerous to humanity
I found out that food could be contaminated in so many ways which includes:

√ Environmental Conditions: The environment where the food is prepared plays a very significant role in contaminating our food When the environment is dirty or surrounded with stagnant waters that harbours this pathogens and microorganisms that can infect our food during production when we take in this foods that are already contaminated the organisms produce toxins that are harmful to our body.so it is very important we clean our surroundings before we start preparing our foods and after each preparation so the environment can be conducive and free from pathogenic agents
A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT EQUALS A HEALTHY LIVING

√ Washing of hands: Imagine after cleaning your environment you now use an unwashed hands to prepare your food🤔😁 your first effort will return to zero because Microorganisms from your hands will be transferred to the food and still cause harm to you so it is very much important to always wash your hands even before eating the well prepared food. Hand washing is very vital in preventing food contamination that can lead to food poisoning

√ Indirect Contamination: The food may be contaminated through an indirect source or through a cross contaminant which can result from making use of unwashed knife used in cutting raw meat that may already have an infectious disease in cutting onions or vegetables, the organisms from the knife is transferred to the vegetables and if not properly cooked can introduce those infections to us which ends up affecting our system

√ Food Combination: This might sound odd but the truth remains that there are food that are not meant to be taken together I remember when growing up we were instructed never to take mango fruits after drinking tea or any soft drink because the combination will go so wrong in our body system imagine taking banana and egg that one is just a natural poisoning on its own so we must learn to avoid some food combinations that might not go well with our body system also eating different foods at the same time it not also good because it's leaves the digestive system in a confused state of not knowing which one to digest this can cause stomach upset and also very important don't overfeed yourself at a time

√ Uncovered food: Many a times we unconsciously leave our food open may be to attend to something urgent but that little minutes you left that food open is enough for flies and other insect to peach on it thereby release their infections into our food, its proper to always have our food covered and protected from this pathogens

The symptoms of food poisoning are
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Stomach or abdominal pain
• Stomach upset
• Fever

In situations where you notice all this symptoms it's advisable you meet your doctor for proper treatment and cure but
The wise men will always say that prevention is much better than cure of anything, so it's important to take all the preventive measures in things we eat to avoid getting intoxicated with food borne disease.

HEALTH they say is WEALTH
Maintain a healthy living and enjoy the sweet nature of life.
