We All Have A Life Online.
The world has gone so much digital, this generation can literally be called the digital generation; almost everything is now digital. Works and job can be done online, meetings can be held online, so many things can be taught and learnt online.
There is a part of our life that we now live online because of the activities we are involved in. Currently, 70% of teenagers who have access to internet and a smartphone around the world now live more than 50% of their lives on the internet, they literally have a life on the didgital world. And one mighty fact about the didgital world is this: the internet never forgets. It doesn't forget whatever you say or do, it is always stored. Many times on X I have read tweets about people who said or gave their opinion about a thing then later on, they make a tweet contrary to what have said before. It might be in a space of years but somehow people do find it even if it was deleted. And then they dragged such person if it a serious matter.
No doubts that the government of every nation has access to data of their citizens; and now that the world has gone so much digital, the government has access to more data of the citizens as long as citizens have access to the internet and make use of it often. The things we do in our various home privately are not really private as we think (they use to be). Government now has access to our data in their own way, of course it is through have deals with the apps and sites we use. Two years ago, X formerly known as Twitter was banned in Nigeria because the digital platform gave youths free access to share their opinion about anything and they really shared their opinion about the government that year. The government had no choice but to arrest some individuals to set an examples but it did not stop the youth from talking about the bad governance. So, the government decided to ban it, yet, the youth came up with the use of VPNs to change their location on the phone to access their X app.
The websites we visit on our smartphones and pc aren't so different because they pretend to keep our data safe from third parties but they actually do not. There are countless times where I'd visit a website to search for informations about a thing. Then not too long, maybe a day, I would visit another website or an app and I would see ads relating to the thing I searched for. This proves that not every data we put on these websites are safe from a third party. Many of these website give out our data to other advertising companies in exchange for money as long as our data fit what what the advertising companies want.
Having our private data stored online has advantages and disadvantages.
Some advantages are: you get to put yourself out there for people to know. Entrepreneurs have access to the digital world to show how good they are at what they do and also get clients that are interested in what they do. Musicians, artists, etc could show their gift and talent to the world.
Some disadvantages are: people get to know a lot about you based on the personal information you out out there. Personalities could get stolen, examples are fake social media account that portray themselves as real account of celebrities. Putting out personal informations could be dangerous as some people might get hurt by haters who speak badly about them or even come to hurt them physically.

Even when the government said our data are private it isn't cause when social media is being involved it isn't private anymore. Currently, hackers are everywhere looking for people's information to steal, and imagine if they get a hold of one, they portray the person's personality and steal from others.
I wish some of our data would be kept private, it would save us from scammers.
Younare absolutely right, hackers are now rampant. We ourselves need to reduce the amount of personal data we put out on social media.
Thank you for stopping by Young-tari
It’s sad that even if we want privacy the government is still not caring.
Thye are not helping at all
This is beautiful psalmmy. I don't think there's any privacy in social media. Anything we want to keep private shouldn't be taken to the internet in the first place.
Thank you Phyna, it is no longer private once it gets to the internet.
