Looks pretty? Yes. But also looks pretty weedy. I once considered cultivating this plant. Ironic that the seeds deterred me but you say that is where the goodies are...

I didn't know ash had this use but it reminds me of an anecdote of someone trying to use fire to get rid of the caltrops in their garden!

It looks better the closer you get! It is otherwise a terrible plant but it does have the ecological role of protecting open soil. I use a thong to pick up the seeds. If you're not an Aussie, that's a sandal or flop flop, not the underwear type thong😁

Burning is about the only way to get rid of them unless you pull them up singly from the taproot.
