Staying disconnected from my smartphone.

Many of us are glued to our smartphones these days because of so many features and activities embedded in them. Smartphones are part of our daily lives and living and many of us earn through this digital technology as it becomes impossible to get separated from. It is difficult for someone who works on his or her phone for daily living to just be disconnected from it without a tangible reason. There must be something worth a reason to disconnect from one's smartphone maybe for a limited time before taking it up again.

In this digital age, most people work from home with their smartphones. They communicate with family and friends through this smartphone. They get lots of opportunities and information from it. Thanks to technology that has made things easier, we don't need to stress ourselves about some things when we can get them at the tip of our fingers just by pressing some buttons on our smartphones and boom, it is successful. So, people find it hard to get disconnected unless something happens to the phone.

I could remember some years when someone stole my phone from where I was charging it. It was that day I realized how addicted I was to my phone, my mood changed, transferred my aggression to customers that night, I couldn't eat dinner and sleep didn't come. I became restless while in bed and was okay when I got it back the following day through my Dad's connection with the company where I went to charge it. Staying without phones for me can be so uninteresting. Other things won't be enjoyable to me until I have my phone with me. Sometimes when my phone is dead, I try my hardest to find somewhere to charge and wouldn't mind using the last cash on me to charge at a charging centre.

Many features on my smartphone make it more difficult to just leave it without exploring a lot of it. For instance, just yesterday, my sister taught me some new things on my phone and since then till now, my phone hasn't been left for some minutes as I found myself engrossed in it and enjoying the exploration of the new stuff I learnt.

There are a lot of stuff that is found on our phones; ranging from calculator, budgeting apps, internet, games, calendar, gallery, music, YouTube, Netflix, etc and these are what keeps us occupied and busy all through the day until we get tired. There is no way we won't be weak while pressing this gadget for long. We aren't robots but humans who need some rest and space away from these technologies for our health most importantly.

Since I am addicted to my smartphone which I can be with it for many hours in a day, some things can make me disconnect from it without using it. One of them is sleep. It is not possible to be sleeping and pressing your phone. I tell people that the only free time my phone has is when I am sleeping while it is also resting and preparing itself till I am awake. When I sleep, what I do so as not to be distracted is to put my phone on silent, and switch off my data and off to dreamland. When I wake up, I pick up the phone and continue my life on it.

Another major thing that keeps me disconnected from it is when I am busy doing something else, like washing my clothes, cleaning my room, etc. I keep my phone at a distance and put it on silent so as not to be distracted and also to make the work faster for me.

With these, I have been able to stay away for a while from my phone daily so as not to make it my priority to the extent that I wouldn't have time for other things. When you are too addicted to something, it becomes a god you worship, but I don't want this. It is the reason I try to find things to keep me occupied to be disconnected from my smartphone and also to help my health stay fit.

Thanks for your time on my blog.

At least you even keep your phone when you're doing chores, me I still use it o. I can be washing clothes and I will keep a chair in front of me with my phone on a portable phone stand and start watching movies or YouTube videos 😂 this phone addiction is a lot worse for some of us

I am not addicted to my cell phone. The story was different last month. I was always with my cell phone, thanks to Hive Zealy Campaign (I'm sure you can relate). Books and games can make me stay away from my cell phone for hours.

Thanks for sharing👍.

Hehehe. I can relate. Zealy would make you glue to your phone because one has to be at alert for quests. Lol

This is so true princess unfortunately many people are phone addicts to the point that it replaces their prayer life

I have been fighting with this addict my dear..but even as at that, I learn to stay disciplined and disconnect with my phone for some Vital activities

Yes, allowing things like this to replace our prayer life is very dangerous and we should work on minimising our activities on smartphones so as to have time for other important things.

Little or more we are addicted to using smartphones. I prefer to say we are used to using smartphones all the day. In your case, you said sleeping disconnected you from your smartphone but from a different point of view smartphone is the one which decides when you sleep🤣. It sounds funny but logical🤣. !LOL
In the case of washing, there is a huge possibility to drop your smartphone in water if you use your smartphone. So it's not advisable for anyone because it will bring financial loss.

Honestly, the evolution of the smartphone has ensured that it stays glued to our person every now and then. It has grown to be a part of our being such that without it most people may not function well.

I hope we all can have a way to disconnect from it once in a while...

That's true. When we become overally addicted to our devices, it becomes a god. It is nice knowing you know there are times you need to detach yourself from your device.

You know, it's funny how we all got so addicted to our phones, that living without it can consume us with sadness. Right before the invention of phones we found happiness in communicating with humans and also in watching TV or movies but now our phones has taken over.
