The process of gaining knowledge is an ongoing process whereby one gathers information, processes data and makes relations. It is a process that is never really complete for it is one that enables us to understand reality in a constant manner.
Information is the collected through research practice employed in the process known as information gathering. Sources of information collected include books, articles, research papers, as well as information from the internet.
Integration of knowledge can be referred to as context as it entails placing of knowledge in a certain context. It makes us learn how information connects with other concepts, past events, and the society’s cultural practice. In this case learning can be regarded as the process of finding relationships, defining areas of knowledge that require further transparency and join newly acquired information.
Knowledge is another concept which has been described in different ways; including the exchange of information with others. It includes being articulate in making known of presenting ideas, being receptive when listening as well as participation in constructive argumentation.
This we have to be willing to be flexible, change our perspective and accept new information as we continue learning.
The first activity that is addressed in the book is thinking about our thinking, which simply means being aware of our thoughts.
Sentience means, reflected thinking about our thoughts. It assists us in learning how we learn, where and how we may be going wrong as well as where we might be enhancing our knowledge construction.
Hence, construction of knowledge comprises of several aspects to achieve the aforesaid purpose. Through explanation about unique, obtaining information, rational thinking, and cooperation with other individuals a solid ground for thw knowledge is constructed, as well as love for learning is developed throughout one’s lifetime.
