The fallacy of such thing as "profits" in Hive.
«Hive Fandom»
Profits, earnings, revenues, surpluses, windfalls, financial gains, ROI benefits, make a killing... Bah! whatever you want to call them, what's the metric you use to be able to call them that?
Because of course, as a regular author and enthusiastic content creator/curator on Hive, the only possible metrics and formulas you could use to measure and compare these fantastic, awesome and longed for financial "profits" and stuff are, obviously: the amount of Time and Knowledge invested in this "social network" on tha blockchain. Right?
Everything else is pure blah-blah-blah. Or just dirty money. Isn't it?

Because, Hey! stop right there in the spot for a moment and let's review deeply enough how much your time and knowledge are really worth in the market nowadays.
Let's say you're a normal young guy (like most of the ones here), college student, graduated in, let's say; philosophy and literature, computer science or graphic design (like many of the ones here), still unemployed but looking for a job and with some free time on your hands while you are searching for a stable job or work. How much is your time and knowledge worth? How much would you quote per hour?
Now let's look at the same scenario above of a normal young guy, but one who didn't go to college or graduate from anything and who claims to be a hard worker at anything that is thrown at him as a task or responsibility. How much is your time and knowledge worth? How much would you quote per hour?
Now, for the two previous cases, let's assume that everything is the same with the only difference that now they both have a full-time job. And they have only a fraction of free time for on the side jobs or investing some of that time and knowledge they have accumulated in freelance activities. How much would be their time and knowledge worth? How much they would quote per hour?
Ok, now let's move on to the last scenario. Yeah, so as not to make this thing too long. Let's now assume that regardless of whether you are or has been a professional graduated from college or not. Currently, whether due to age, illness, disability, personal choice or whatever, you are currently retired from working life. Or let's say you are a housewife dedicated to your children and your home. How much is your time and knowledge worth? How much would you quote per hour?
Alright, once we have presented this minimum framework of the four most common scenarios among active Hive members. Let's now move on to the last question at hand in relation to having been able to generate true profits, earnings, revenues, surpluses, windfalls, financial gains, ROI benefits or any surplus of profits based on the time and knowledge you have invested into the Hive blockchain over the years.
To do this, just «click here» and visit the HiveTasks website, replace "adm" with your own username after the @ sign and take a look at the section that says: "Rewards Summary" and there you will be able to see and verify all the money you have generated in a week, in a month or in all the time during which you have been investing your precious time and knowledge grinding in Hive everyday.
Here below I will show you a screenshot of the section that you must search for and find to check your so elusive real earnings, profits and ROI. In this case, the screenshot shows the fabulous income of an account that has been here on Hive since March 30, 2016 at 00:04:33 if not long before. Check this out and cry!
Did you click? Did you find the section? Did you check your Total USD* figures? How long have you been investing «time and knowledge» in Hive? Do these figures look like numbers you could call profits? ¿Earnings? ¿Surpluses? ¿Financial gains? ¿ROI benefits? ¿Making a killing? Yeah, you name it!
That to do this, all you have to do is divide that astonishing dollar figure that appears in your Hivetasks, between the time you have been working in Hive. How long it takes you to create a post or create content for Hive. And how much you told us you charge per hour in the first four questions above.
Does it throws you any figures that you could proudly call profits?
Just out of curiosity, then, how much have you been charging per hour the entire time you've been working at Hive if you divide that time between the astonishing dollar figure Hivetasks gave you? Well, if you ask me, in my case it turns out that I have been charging/collecting $0,0087521118721461 per hour in all the time I've been at Hive. ¿What? You don't think that's enough profit? You greedy MoFo!
So yeah, perhaps we better go back to our TikTok and with all that creativity, time and knowledge that we say we have, why not use the "Spider Filter" to go viral and hopefully earn few buck$ if we are smart enough? Probably, we actually could call that "profit" someday. Don't worry, I'll give you instructions on how to do it below:
- Open TikTok.
- Type ‘Spider filter’ in the search bar and select a video that has used the effect.
- Click on the orange filter box above their username.
- Press ‘Use this effect.’
- Hold your phone so either your face or someone’s face is on camera.
- Now a spider will begin crawling across your screen.
You see? Instant profits in a very short time and with little invested knowledge.
And without anyone telling you what to do and how to do it whenever they feel like it. Am I right?
Aren't these things much more fun and a gazillion times better than Hive to generate real profits/revenues by investing/spending very few time and with the potencial possibility to get some serious bucks in record time jointly with a lot of laughter in the process?
Yeh Yeh Yeh... Yeah, I know, I know, you are not here for the money but only for the community.
I think your calculation is a bit flawed. I would only take the hours into account that you actually spend using Hive, posting, commenting or voting. Then the numbers get better.
And on any other social media platform the number is exactly 0.
Yep, I admit my calculation may be a bit flawed. But I reckon yours might be even more faulty. };)
Because, what about all the time spent in content "curation" and reading a lot of crap worth to upvote and/or get inspiration to write your own posts? You wouldn't count these hours for your hourly fee calculation?
Well, in my particular case I think not much better. Because believe it or not, I am one of those rarities who has invested his time 24/7 on Hive for over eight years now.
Ah, how it is obvious you haven't used TikTok with the Spider Filter yet.
No, sorry I never use Tiktok. How one can earn there using a disgusting filter? I thought the creator of the filter earns something?
I am here since even 7 years, but I had figured out that you need to boost your own stake plus get connected to other people with some minimum stake before the rewards are meaningful in any way. You can check my rewards over time, they were minimal in the beginning and increased over time. It is like in real life, you aren´t going anywhere without putting some money in. Like a travel by feet is possible but it takes much longer than in a car.
Complaining about the small rewards on Hive is like complaining that by walking by feet takes ages to reach another continent. I am exaggerating but I hope you get what I mean.
But you are right, even now my rewards are much less than the ones of my real-life profession. It is a hobby rather.
Yeah, the creator of the filter and many creative user too.
Try it, you have nothing to lose. Treat it as if you were playing a game of chess and you start with a queen's gambit with white and the other player applies the Caro-Kann defense.
Yup, that's true. But many here actually need to know that not everyone is in conditions nor can boost their own stake easily plus get connected to other people with some minimum stake if they wish.
Yeah, I guess we all started in the same way if we were really cautious and careful enough. But as for putting some money in, again, not everyone has the same opportunities.
Of course I understand what you mean. I just hope that you also understand what I'm trying to explain to you. Because in fact, nobody here is really complaining about anything.
Without a doubt, walking by foot from one continent to another would take ages. But I hope you know that there are many who have no other choice.
Exactly! A hobby! And that's all what I wanted to signify and highlight in this post in relation to what we could call "true profits" in Hive. };)

Sheesh! 110000 upvotes already? I bet no one would believe it!
Next time, please tell me how many downvotes do I have now and how many do I need to get my badge and next target.
That would be a badge to display proudly!
I've already trimmed my long beard a little and I'm now making room on my bare chest to show off that new badge majestically. ;o)
Perhaps more valuable returns than mere money are gained from the investment we make in creating content and interacting on Hive. I know the benefit I've gained from your sound counsel and insightful criticism has improved my understanding and enjoyment of my life. How could I put a price on that?
I learn things here every day that I would never come to know putting even highly profitable spider filters on my OF videos. Sure, you'd pay a large fortune to see that creepy spider crawling across my scintillating gooch, but would we have learned that Silicon Valley Big Tech Bros are steamed about Pavel Durov being enslaved by Micron?
Some things Hive just does better, and warnings of our exposure to spooky French cyberstalkers are worth their weight in Hive tokens.
Thanks!
Good point.
It is priceless because you are a philanthropist, a philosopher and another of those low-profile (or perhaps hidden?) hive unicorns @valued-customer 😀.
I am certainly rather low profile despite sounding my barbaric yawp across the rooftops of the world. I am not at all put out about it, because I am left in peace to lean, and loaf, and take my ease while I yowl and howl as I please.
Of course, otherwise we wouldn't still be wandering over here, right?
Thank you very much for what might correspond to me bro. Certainly, these are valuable things that cannot be priced.
Well, I would say try it! Don't dismiss it so quickly. One never know from where opulence might strike us.
And to think there are rumors in Silicon Valley that Pavel Durov could have been the author of that Spider Filter but decided to rent it to TikTok first to see how it worked. ¿Huh?
Hurrah, more Hive tokens for the spooky French cyberstalkers!
This is frightening to me, because I have learned the more I have the more scumbags try harder to get it, and my peace and sanctity is more disturbed the more opulence I have.
May God bless me with poverty, because there lies freedom!
I guess I know pretty well from where you are coming from, my friend. And I would dare to say you could never be more right when you claim that it is exactly in our poverty that our true freedom to remain unnoticed lies.
Tik Tok is the zombie-making machine, I hate that damn shit, it creates idiots at an accelerated rate and multiplies them.
As soon as there is money involved, idiots proliferate like worms everywhere.
Don't be so tough and strict on yourself. Give TikTok a try with the spider filter and aim to become rich much sooner than on Hive.
