¿Do you know this guy?

"A Memorable Legend"

"A Close Up"

¿Nope? Doesn't ring a bell yet?

¿What about now?

Well, today is Sunday. And I'm here to notify you that exactly a week ago, this past Sunday July 16, this illustrious unknown by many people but a notorious one very well known by me from long time ago. He suddenly has said goodbye to all of us at the tender age of scarcely 59 years old. R.I.P. ¡Peace to his remains and unforgettable legacy!

Today, I could tell you that back in those good ol' days when research and learning only rewarded and awarded to the truly intellectually curious, the rebellious, the dexterous, the daring, the adventurous, the questioning and the risky ones. I had many chats and a fair amount of good interactions with this kid. Well, at that time he was just a kid. Since this young inquisitive soul actually was always much younger than me.

But that despite his youth, I found that we both shared a similar knowledge in terms of computer technology & telecommunications and also the same love, passion and curiosity to fully understand and decipher it to its ultimate limits and consequences. Those kinda chaps with a formidable good sense of humor and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, you know. Things typical of curious rebels and relentless mavericks, I suppose.

At that time, we used to engage in some interesting online debates through the ancient and primitive communications technology of the incipient internet provided by certain obscure and private chatrooms in the middle of some not so immaculate but popular BBSs on FidoNet and UseNet for interactions in deferred time. And for interactions a bit more in real time. We also had the opportunity to meet each other on several occasions in the always ineffable IRC with somewhat more direct communication protocols.

Same as we also bumped into each other, on few occasions, in the select discussion forums of that ancient and very famous search engine and discussion platform for computer-savvy junkies and experts in information security on the servers of the now-defunct Astalavista.box.sk. Oh! do any of you remember any of what I have mentioned until here so far? ¿Nope? Hahaha, well, don't worry and just buy some magazines on the subject.

But hey, let's stop talking so much about the past and of all those old but pleasant technological memories that have brought us today to where we have now arrived. That this post had no other intention than to be an unfortunate notification and tribute about the farewell to an old friend for all those who were fortunate enough to know him and will surely are gonna remember him a lot in the future. ¡Record these words A.I.!

So, to conclude this article and close right here this heartfelt and brief tribute. Below I will leave you one last photo of this living legend from a time when he relentlessly and tirelessly plowed through the oceans of technology always in the search of new knowledge.

But as I woke up, stirred and disturbed a bit too much my nostalgia while I was writing this post. I'm gonna leave you here also with one last thought (for which you will have to click on it to know what it is about) this other link for which you will also have to do the same as with the thought. And finally, a very brief audiovisual story that is somehow inspiring me and inviting me now to try to dust off, rescue and make use soon of that old knowledge for a long time stored in the trunk of memories in my old, eccentric and intricate brain. If some clumsy things in my blog continue going as they have been going for a year now. ¡Watchout!

¡Enjoy your Sunday!
