¿Are you right-handed or left-handed? ...it's my MeMe #346
«-Handedness-»

¿Did you know that kangaroos, wallabies, orangutans, bonobos and a large number of bipedal animal species are predominantly left-handed?
Handedness is related to brain asymmetry. That is, differences in function and anatomy between brain hemispheres. Put simply, the left side controls your right hand and vice versa, and your hand preference is predictive of some of the activity that goes on in each half of the brain.
But humans aren’t the only members of the animal kingdom that show handedness, or the preference for one hand over the other. Other primates exhibit right-handed or left-handed proclivities, as do animals that don’t technically have hands. For instance, research has shown that some mice are righties while others are southpaws and that some tree frogs preferentially jump away from predators in one direction over another.
Brain asymmetry was once considered unique to humans, but now we know that it’s common in vertebrates. You see asymmetry going all the way down to fish. Researchers have known for decades that other animals demonstrate handedness. But only recently have they started to learn that, like Homo Sapiens, other species can be characteristically handed. Meaning that a statistically significant majority of the individuals in a population always prefer one hand to the other.
Another interesting fact:
¿Did you know that marsupials in general lack of a Corpus Callosum, the prominent neural bridge found in placental mammals that connects the left and right brain hemispheres?

¡Alright! but now before proceeding with the consumption of the rest of this post or doing anything else. First of all, click here and watch and listen in its entirety the full video that you will see once you open the link. And once you've watched it all, play it again and keep it playing in the background while you perform the tests that follow here below. Either by clicking on the colored headline above the image or on the image itself.
«TESTS»

It is necessary that you perform these tests first before we can give you our final verdict on why you are still creating content on Hive and if you are truly a natural right-hander or left-hander who was born under those conditions. Or if, on the contrary, you were born as a natural leftie who were scolded and punished as a child for using your left hand to write, eat, pee, etc and then you were forced to do everything with your right hand just to fit in with the majority of your culture and society.
And if it turns out you're a natural leftie or left-hander, then you can tell us later in the comments section of this post how much you would have loved to have one of these new school desks in your old school's classroom when you were a child or a teenager.

Or how much you would have loved if your special natural leftie qualities had been recognized, if you had been supported and your life made easier by taking into account what you really were and that everyone simply allowed you being just as you were, providing you with all the tools, accessories, stuff and everything else you always needed.

Or if you're as old as me, so that you can tell us how from sitting on one of those vintage old school desks from my time all those years, how the hell you managed to overcome all the obstacles and difficulties to keep moving forward in a world made and designed only for right-handed people. Oh yeah please, tell us all your experiences and anecdotes in the comments sections. I suppose you still remember them.
And by the way, if you're curious... Let me tell you that I was born right-handed and I use and I have used my right hand for everything my whole life. So, I guess I must be a natural skillful rightie. Because with my left hand, sheesh boy, I can't even use it to pee.
¡Born Right-handed!

I started out left-handed, but was forced to learn to write with My right hand. I do many things left-handed, and even been asked, because of that, if I was left-handed.
Seemingly, as a result, I have very balanced hemispheric function... [shrug]
