CHALLENGE - Can I make a BEAT out of an ACCORDION? First time playing the accordion? Beat in the Garage Band
Hi all!
This is the first video in this format on my official YouTube channel.
Namely I decided to make a challenge I made a challenge to myself to write a beat from a live accordion since I have never done this before.
The essence of the video is not to be afraid to try something new maybe it's yours and it will become your favorite hobby just try it!
I have absolutely no idea how to play the accordion properly but working at the Garage Band with the piano (and you may notice that the accordion has some similarities to the piano) I can grope and pick up some chords.
On the first try I managed to pick up a simple melody which I took as the basis of the beat.
Now I will write down the points, my actions:
I played the melody on the accordion and recorded it on the recorder.
Transferred the audio file with the melody on the accordion to the Garage Band.
- Made a little processing of the melody namely: cut off unnecessary parts added noise reduction, experimented with compressor settings adjusted the equalizer and added a little chorus for sound volume.
- I recorded the second melody on the accordion in order to diversify the beat and to have a difference between the chorus part and the verse.
- Also processed the second melody as well as the first, but I had to spend a little time on leveling the audio track so that it fell into the tempo.
- Recorded vintage hip hop drums which are very suitable for writing instrumental hip hop beats.
In hi-hats I made some runs to make the drum part sound more interesting and also randomized the velocity (strength of notes) in hi-hats which also gives the drums a live sound.
- The next step I wrote the bass part.
Instrumental bass guitars are very suitable for instrumental beats for example Liverpool bass.
- Then I wrote perhaps not a very noticeable part of the flute.
She plays in high tones and therefore the first time you may not notice her, but if you listen carefully you can hear her.
I made the structure of the beat, added volume automation at the beginning and at the end of the beat (at the beginning the volume increases and at the end the volume fades)
That's all. In the end, not knowing how to play the accordion I was able to make a beat out of it.
This beat can be improved and improved, but for a trial version of the beat and for experimenting with a live accordion, I think this is enough.
I hope that someone will be inspired by this experiment and can also make writing music more fun and interesting. All blessings and all the best!
