Ex Grok staff sued for selling codes to OpenAI

Grok owner Elon Musk is dragging one of his former xAI engineers, Xuechen Li, to court over claims that the guy stole confidential Grok code before leaving the company (Grok). According to his X(formally Twitter) post he, it explain that Li is now working at OpenAI, these OpenAI company, Musk has had beef with them for years. And just before he left xAI, Li reportedly sold his shares for a cool $7 million.

Li was part of the team that built Grok’s latest version. But before resigning, it is believed that he transferred sensitive files from his work laptop to his personal device. Not just that he cleared browser history, he deleted system logs, he renamed and even compressed files, and uploaded them, the guy must be a sharp guy. As there's a slangs in Nigeria "sharp guy no be thief".

xAI sued him and is now asking the court to block Li from starting his new job at OpenAI and to force him to return all the data. They’re saying the stolen code could give OpenAI a massive advantage, saving them years of research and billions in development costs. Basically, Musk believes Li handed over the secret sauce.

This whole thing is heating up the already tense rivalry between Musk and OpenAI.
It has gone beyond Li it's now how to dominate, or who dominate the AI race. Some people already comment that the Li was not alone in the planing of such move like a football transfer when thr transfer window closes at midnight.

This case could set a serious precedent for how tech companies protect their intellectual property. If xAI wins, it might scare others from trying similar moves. But if Li walks free, it could open the door for more drama in the AI world.
