Navigiert zu Local Computer Policy>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Updates>Windows Updates for Business. Klickt auf Select when Preview Builds and Features Updates are received.

  1. Klickt auf Select when Quality Updates are received. In diesem Beispiel hier 30. Bestätigen.

Does it also annoy you that Windows 10 updates are installed at inopportune times?
Do you find that after a major update, Microsoft apps that were already uninstalled are suddenly back?
You want to have a Windows 10 for gaming or just want to control Windows updates better?
Then the following configurations might help:

  1. Open the search bar with Win + R and type regedit in the field. Now navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdates\UX\Settings. On a newly installed system, the key values may not be present. In this case, right-click and create a new 32-bit DWORD key. Name this key BranchReadinessLevel (case sensitive) and give it the decimal value 20. Save now.

  2. Creates a new 32-bit DWORD key in the same way. Name this key DeferFeatureUpdatesPeriodInDays and give it a decimal value of 365. The so-called feature updates are the crap updates that clutter up your system unnecessarily. This includes most of the apps preinstalled by Microsoft, such as Candy Crush Saga, Minecraft, Facebook, etc.

  3. Install security updates only. Creates another key DeferQualityUpdatesPeriodInDays and give it a decimal value between 1 and 30. The quality updates are updates for Windows Defender, driver updates, operating system updates, etc. These should be active for security. For example, a value of 7 means check for quality updates only once a week.

  4. Press Win + R and type gpedit.msc. This will open the Grouppolicies. Navigate to Local Computer Policy>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Updates>Windows Updates for Business. Click on Select when Preview Builds and Features Updates are received. Set the radio button to Enabled. In the dropdown menu, change the value to Semi-Annual-Channel and set the value to 365 (same as in point 2). Confirm.

  5. Click on Select when Quality Updates are received. Set the radio button to Enabled and enter the same value as in point 3. In this example here 30. Confirm.

  6. Sets the active time, i.e. when no updates should be downloaded and installed. To do this, go to Start > Windows Settings > Updates and Security > Change active hours. Set the slider to Off and the active time to 8:00 AM and 2:00 AM. It depends on when you actually work actively on the computer.
