Are the pastries as good as those in Paris? That pistachio shnecken looks fabulous. Do they call it that?

I'm not sure about Paris, I was only there once and never left the airport (on a layover to Portugal). They're as good, or maybe a tad better, than what I've had in Montreal though. They called the pistachio one "escargot" because it looks like a snail's shell. It was so good!

What I wouldn't give for a good schneken! I don't think I'm spelling that right.
I once worked in a great patisserie in NYC. We made everything from scratch. Mostly men from Guyana made the croissants and danish, every part of the process except proofing and baking them. That stuff was incredible. I don't bother anywhere else, having tasted stuff that good, I am not interested in the CRAP that most places sell for croissant.

Ahh, it was the German translation! It tasted divine. The one I had in Montreal had raspberries baked into it along with the dark chocolate and pistachio. I didn't really miss the raspberries. Once you've had good pastry nothing else compares. The "pastry" being sold in most places are just bad imitations.

Bad, yes. Not worth the money or chewing time. I think raspberries and chocolate are wrong in a shnecken. Way to go making something divine mundane.
