The best music: from the 90s | Rising Star Giveaway - Reward 10000 Starbits diary Round 29

"Around the World" is one of the famous promotional singles from Homework featuring Daft Punk greats Guy-Manuel and Thomas Bangalter, offering lessons in synth experimentation and exploration. You may remember the video for this song. It features a group of robots, other swimmers, other athletes, mummies and skulls dancing simultaneously on a platform with colored lights in the background. It was choreographed by the Spanish Blanca Lee, who created the steps that the group repeats in each song, and was recorded at a slower tempo than the official video for Around the World.

The video for "Around the World" was directed by French director Michael Gondry, known for his work on films such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or videos for artists such as Björk, The Chemical Brothers and The White Stripes.

In another video where the director revealed the concept, Gondry said that the dancing in the music video was made because the band liked the idea but didn't like the video, so it was a challenge to make something they liked. Same guy.
