Hello friends science addicts! Today I have a fun post for you, I received a visit at my house, it is a "Funnel web" a small common household spider! for many it is something alarming and the first thing they do is kill them! but today I will show you why a small spider should be welcome in our house! the correct behavior is to take it with a bottle without using your hands and leave it as far away as possible in the case that we think it is a "dangerous spider" otherwise there is no problem living with them!🤩🕵️‍♂️🕸

a

What is a spider?🕷👨‍💻/ Que es una araña?🧠👨‍🏫

The best conduct to take on these issues is to educate yourself and your family about the dangerous spiders in your region! Applying my professional ethics, I cannot tell you "spiders are not dangerous" because there are some species whose venom is powerful enough to kill a wild boar, and how they first came to our world! it is we who invaded your home! having knowledge about poisonous species is an ecological contribution to our planet and you take care of your safety! most spiders have a poison that is not able to kill them! what happens is that we could have a negative reaction to its poison! but there are few cases of people killed by spiders! barely 50 per year worldwide!!! too low a number!❌🛑📛

A spider is an animal that is grouped among the arthropods and they are the most numerous of the "Arachnida" class. To date, more than 45,000 species of spiders have been discovered on the planet! and they are quite abundant, it can be estimated more than a million individuals in a "hectare" spiders have a pair of chelicerae that are like "legs" through which they paralyze their prey using poison they produce in their glands! one of the characteristics of spiders that ARE NOT INSECTS!! is that they produce spider web! this "silk" has multiple uses!💥😲😲

Why shouldn't we kill spiders?🕷👨‍💻/ Por que no debemos matar a las arañas?🧠👨‍🏫

Do not think that to carry out this experience I had to sacrifice this spider, what I did was place it in the cold for a few minutes to lower its metabolism and photograph as quickly as possible since they wake up quickly! So that we have an understanding, spiders are great pest controllers, since they feed on many insects including flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, ants! are all those unwanted animals in our homes right? So a spider not only plays an ecological role in the external environment but also inside our home! I know it's hard to convince you not to kill them but I'll give you some good reasons not to!👨‍🏫😍😎

This particular species does not exceed 2 centimeters, so it is harmless to us! It is common for homes to not be able to identify the species but I know from the shape of the body that it is a "funnel web" they are those that capture their prey using their silk! and it was something that I noticed because when I captured it I left it in a small jar and I fed it with an ant and inside the jar there were spider webs everywhere! I know that this species is harmless to me so I can leave it in my home!!! the question is why??? Why the interest of leaving such a small arachnid to walk in our home?😍😍

Spiders can accidentally enter our home! let's say that a spider is not aware that it should be out of our home! almost always around us there is sand, trees and that is where they prefer to live! but many times they come to our home! a spider is not like a snake that feeds and does not return to hunt for days or months, spiders are very active hunters! Do you know why we should not worry? a spider will hardly reproduce in our home! would prefer to be abroad what we think will be a permanent visit will be something for a short time! these animals eat almost any type of insect, obviously it has to be of a size that they can eat!🤩😍

There are spiders that are cannibals and eat others so sometimes they can control their population by themselves! spiders do not have an aggressive behavior and do not usually attack for "fun" it will only attack when it feels in danger, usually when we accidentally step on it! since spiders feed on any insect, then we come to the point where we must ask ourselves? it will be worth it to overcome "arachnophobia" and leave our visitor in peace!! or risk that you or your children contract a disease from a mosquito or fly!👨‍🏫😎🛑👨‍💻

This is a zoomed-in view of one of nature's toughest materials, the spider web! As you can see, my friend has left a little and I took the opportunity to show you how he looks! a spider uses its silk not only to hunt, it can also move, build a nest! They are fantastic animals that deserve our respect! and like every living being a space on our planet! remember that we ARE THE INVADERS!! NOT THEM!😏👨‍🏫

How are you dear friend @oscurity good day
What you say is very true, we must be careful with spiders, there are species that are really very poisonous, and as you say, we are the invaders
I appreciate you sharing all this information.
have a great day

Despite if the fact spiders are feared by many, deaths due to spiders are quite rare phenomena (as you mentioned it, in fact). There is thus in principle no need to worry too much (at least if we are not in crazy places where dangerous species live).

On the funnier side, I was sure you would put your new friend under the scope, right after reading the title and the first paragraph of this post. On this matter, you didn’t disappoint me :-) Thanks for the nice pictures!

Thanks a lot for the article! What a deep study about her! In the beginning I thought that was going to be something much more superficial than looking details of the spider web!! Congratz for the deep study!

I always like to deepen the topics, spiders are underestimated and they are animals that keep our house clean, I have an aunt who always puts one inside her car to keep it clean from bugs
