Hello hello friends! I stopped by this super community to leave a post with a scientific-fun approach, today I used my sister who is inexperienced in bird watching to make her my student, today we visited an observation post in the surroundings of the Sado River which is quite popular because we can see some migratory birds like the flamingo! She had never seen a flamingo in the wild so I hope to have a bit of luck and run into some! And of course I would like to describe a little the basic things about bird watching so make yourself comfortable and enjoy my post!👨‍🏫👨👧

The person who studies birds is called an "ornithologist", when you are going to study birds in the field as a hobby or in a scientific field, he is called "birdwatching", first of all we should not restrict ourselves when choosing a site to photograph and observe the birds. birds because birds are cosmopolitan animals that are in almost all places on the planet, so we can go to your city park and study "urban" birds. However, the habitat makes it possible for us to get birds from different environments, for example a park is limited because in it we only see urban birds, but in a forest we could see urban birds and also exotic birds, that is, those more sensitive species that are afraid of " noises of the cities🤔🤩

I think that any ornithologist would agree with me that the best places to observe and photograph birds are those places far from the city where a body of water is close, that is, a river, lagoon, swamp, mangrove! This is because water is a vital resource for all living beings and for birds, in addition to being a source of food, it can also be an excellent space to place their nests! So I explained to my sister that the best place where we could see wild birds would be far away in the city near the river and that is why we chose this area!😮🤩

After we choose the place where we are going to do "birdwatching" then we must take the observation equipment, there are people who only want to see their behavior and it is enough to bring binoculars or a powerful monocular, 60x is what I recommend to see birds at a distance where they don't feel afraid of our presence! For example, shorebirds that live in wetlands with "mud" or "beaches" are too skittish and are so fast that they are difficult to capture in photos xD that's why the distance between the bird and us is very important! then if you want you can take books, notebooks, cameras🥰😎

Here in this observation post there is a small museum where they explain what kind of birds are common in the seasons of the year, in the migration season that covers the winter months we can see birds that do not live in the country the whole year and are only I spend time looking for shelter and food, these birds are known as "migratory", for me it makes a lot of difference to have prior knowledge of what we are going to see in the "field" because we know where to look, I explained to my sister that in the mounds of earth we can see shorebirds that feed on small crustaceans they are generally in the outer part of the center of the river that is the lowest area! then if we go a little deeper we come across herons, seagulls, storks! I know all this because before going to the site I did a little study! I think it's frustrating to get there and say to yourself: now what? where do i start?😃😅😅

A bird watching post is nothing more than a structure that is generally built with wood in which we can make bird observations, these structures are conditioned to hide our presence from the birds avoiding direct contact between the feathered and us can be built anywhere from forests, jungles, beaches, basically in any strategic place where many birds pass!🤔😮🙂

Your behavior is key to good bird watching, the smallest details make a difference, you can be dressed in dark clothes and go unnoticed or wear very striking red and be detected very easily, you can take pictures or observe in silence or go with a partner and make a lot of noise... Believe me birds have a great sense of hearing the slightest noise stresses them out! in birdwatching it is totally forbidden to get stressed or lose your patience xD, on a productive day you can hopefully see many birds, or spend hours and hours without seeing anything.... PATIENCE IS THE KEY!😎😎

The time is important because at certain times of the day the birds are more active, for example the recommended hours to photograph is always the first hours of the morning between 6:00 and 11:00 when the sun is at its highest point. birds look for shelters then at 18:00 they are active again, we should NEVER observe birds in rainy seasons, they are not waterproof xD so they will be hidden!👨‍🏫👨‍🎓

There were not many birds despite the low tide, and the ones that were were very far away but we were quite lucky because about 3km or so there was a flock of flamingos and it was our goal, my sister was very happy because it is the first time that the I saw in wild habitat!😮😮

Great pictures and great post, as usual.

The last time I did this kind of activity was a while ago, with my kids. We were close to the Belgian seashore, in a natural reserve full of birds. Whereas we managed to see a bunch of those birds, we also managed not to see a lot of birds that we should have seen. This was in any case a very good family moment :)

Cheers!
