Few years ago, I organized the first meet up for $Steem in Lagos back in 2017 and it was magnificent amongst other self promotions. You can check this link out to catch the gist of our it went: Steem-Nigeria (Steem-Lagos) hangout. Saturday 8th July- To be Hosted by @oluwoleolaide. Well, that was in retrospect now considering the demise of Steem(it) as it became a centralized entity, and also dissecting users attitude of the new $Hive.

Back then there was passion, I wasn't earning so much but then I still use my earnings to promote Steem, even though I'm regretting it all now because the free vote on quality and engagement is missing on Hive. Its the honest truth, few whales and dolphins don't just circle votes their friends or people in their country or regions, the rest had to be summoned or something. So how would anyone who scurry for cents in upvote promote $Hive wholeheartedly? Absolutely no one would be willing to do that no more like we did back then, not that we were promised anything but because we believe that people/users freewill are still intact.

Comparing the number of users back then and now on $Hive, then active users back then and now, it is still strange that users with tiny stakes still get the crumbs. There are delegation and upvote bots, so why should any large stake users go around on curating spree?

Well, that's why there is little to nobody promoting $Hive now. There are also lesser investment now into Hive because users cash out the few of their rewards and would never invest the other crypto they own into the platform for this sole reason. It is a far cry to say that both minnows and whales/dolphins have something to contribute to this amazing technology, the absence of one would directly affect the other.

Furthermore, how do you bring new users in when you know fully well they are going to struggle mostly as a writer? Its true other creative users don't struggle like writers, painters, artists, vloggers still have some recognitions in all honesty, but compared to writers, its nothing encouraging. So how do you explain Blockchain Technology to someone not familiar with it, and then what do you have to convince them with to join a platform like this? It was easy posting videos and pictures of meetups on several social media back then, in fact a lot of users came in via the hangouts and meetups which $Hive never boast of one yet.

Investing time and energy plus tokens in something comes with the positive outlook that things will go better, that people will support it. If nothing positive comes afterwards, all motivation and moral is gone. Not that we were stupid spending our earnings to promote $Steem but there was massive support and encouragement, that is still missing on Hive. The only grace left now is that no other dapp has come up to o fill that void of early days of Steem, and it would be shocking if something more promising comes up, the mass Exodus will be disheartening with no one specifically to be blamed!

The system needs to be changed like you have said.

But i guess that is why communities are also created to curate content narrow to the community topic.

Community like projecthope bdcommunity and many more

Well, curation is part of it, but user retention strategies is something needed.

I think I partly agree with you but for different reasons. Hive has fewer members but they are more active than steem. The major set back is the learning curve on steem. It is quite steep and difficult to climb. If only we could be much more friendly to fun content and be more social, we can get more people on board. Personally, I'm much more optimistic in hive than steem

Before the learning curve of Steem, things was smooth, no too much community or channel. Plus if things runs smoothly like "blog, engage and earn" active users will stay, or say people will fall in more and remain active. Either ways, to go such length like we did for Steem seems foggy.

How beautiful the energy they transmit in those photos! You are right when you say mass exodus, that is the reality, many have decided to retire and in a way with a little reason, the great whales think about protecting their capital, since nobody wants to risk their profits in a place that is becoming a little unstable.

Truth is, the whales sort of made it unstable. I know everyone needs to maximize their investment, but it was bubbling and very alive before vote selling and all came to cloud everything, they became greedy; if you can't buy my vote on your publishing then you can go off. That's why people left...

No lies, its harder and difficult to convince anyone to join the platform, this is evident. After one or two post and the person seems not to be motivated, they will go silent. Its scary honestly.
