What is it about an Irregular Cycle
The concern about an irregular period begins when a cycle stops being as usual as it should be. With the help of improved online applications, it is now possible for women to easily calculate their monthly cycle; this makes it easier to predict when a periodic cycle stops being regular.
An irregular cycle makes the calculation of monthly flow difficult to practice, as it basically keeps fluctuating from month to month.Sometimes, the irregularity may be just normal, especially during breastfeeding, puberty, menopause approaching, medications, and some other simple reasons.

I started to get worried about irregular periods when a woman spoke about how a serious case of fibroid started from an irregular menstrual cycle.Another name, or should I say, a better medical word to describe irregular periods, is "oligomenorrhea.".
This can happen for various reasons as mentioned previously, but while some reasons are not enough to make you panic, other reasons can.The main hormones responsible for the regulation of the menstrual cycle are estrogen, progesterone, and follicle-stimulating hormones.
If there is an altering with the way these hormones rise and fall during a menstrual flow, then there would be irregular periods.Stress, weight loss, hormonal birth control, endurance exercises, and natural hormonal shifts may be some reasons behind irregular periods. But a more persistent irregularity could be a sign of an underlying condition.

It is normal for the body to go through hormonal changes during puberty, and it could take some time for the hormones responsible for the regulation of periods to fall back into a reliable and consistent pattern. During a time like this, an irregular period can be experienced.
Childbirth and breastfeeding could as well lead to irregular periods until hormones properly return to normal.Lactational amenorrhea can suppress ovulation, therefore making a person's period stop; this is more common with exclusive breastfeeding.
Premenopause is the first stage of menopause, and during this time, hormonal levels begin to drop, making it irregular. The way hormonal birth control works is by stopping ovulation; this means there is no true period during its usage.
Some people would not experience it at all while others would experience an irregular one. When people start using or when they stop the pill, implants, or IUD, as the case may be, it may result in an irregular period, and it takes some time for the body's hormonal cycle to begin to work as usual again.

Now, let's talk about the possibility of an irregular cycle happening as a result of a health condition.PCOS has its most common sign to be irregular periods. PCOS happens when cysts grow in the ovaries.
A case of PCOS would lead to missing periods and a heavy flow when the period finally arrives.Weight gain, oily skin, hair loss, difficulty getting pregnant, insulin resistance, and excessive facial or body hair are other signs to watch out for when it comes to suspecting PCOS as a cause for irregular periods.
Too much exercise can also tamper with the hormone responsible for menstruation. This can affect female athletes or others who go through intense training sessions.Hypothyroidism, which means the thyroid gland does not produce sufficient hormones, could cause a longer and heavier period. While hyperthyroidism could cause a shorter and lighter period.
This condition would produce an experience of anxiety, heart palpitations, and unexplained weight loss.Fibroids can also trigger irregular periods, causing a painful and very heavy period that could most likely cause anemia. Leg pain, painful sexual experience, pelvic pain, and lower back pain. are contributing signs to watch out for.
Endometriosis is another possible factor; this causes the tissue that would normally line the uterus to grow outside of the uterus, creating significant menstrual pain.Excessive weight loss may lead to irregular periods or bring it to a complete stop.
This happens when parts of the brain stop releasing the hormones that impact the menstrual cycle. An underweight person may experience thinning hair, dry skin, tiredness, difficulty concentrating, low mood, and difficulty getting warm.
Endometrial and cervical cancer can also lead to irregular periods, creating unusual bleeding from the uterus and having the appearance of a period; bleeding after sex is also noticed in this case. This cancer does not often show other symptoms during its early stage.
Speaking with a doctor early enough about irregular periods is very important; while you may think it's just hormonal changes, it could be something more.On the other hand, you may think it is something serious while it's just a reaction from the family care plan. You can only be sure when you see a doctor, so try to see one as soon as you notice a difference.
