The Reasons behind a Woman's Intense Headache.

I think that women go through a lot, our bodies just have a lot of complex things going on different from the male gender. When a woman has an increased headache, there might just be something going on different from a man's.

Some research says increased hormones could be a reason why women have more headaches than men, women experience hormone-related triggers like; pregnancy, menopause, menstruation, and oral contraceptives.

You know, headaches could be much more complicated than we think it is. There are different types of headaches, and they come with it's own accompanied symptoms.

Why do we blame hormones though?

Estrogen is highly responsible for the regulation and development of the female reproductive system, now anytime there is a fluctuation or there is a dip in the level of estrogen, a headache may just be triggered.

In order to figure out if your menstrual cycle is the reason behind your headache, you need to keep a calendar to observe the symptoms, when a pattern is noticed, then it's time to contact your doctor and get some prevention and treatment options.

Tension headaches and migraines are very common for women. Tension headaches are the feeling of having a band tied around your head, but it doesn't come with the bangs linked with migraine headaches.
Basically, migraine headache comes with symptoms like;

  • Sensitivity to light, smell, or sound.
  • Pain that typically lasts for up to 72 hours.
  • Pain that gets worse through physical activities.
  • Nausea or/and vomiting.

Some major lifestyle changes may help with managing the symptoms that accompanies migraine headache. Avoiding triggers like stress and alcohol will surely help to relieve the symptoms and of course, staying hydrated all day long will help too.

Check your sleep time too, and ensure you are getting quality above quantity, as it is not about the time taken to sleep alone, but the quantity of sleep gotten, and of course when this lifestyle change does not work, you should see a medical expert to check for other underlying causes.

Chronic daily headache comes in the form of; chronic migraine, chronic tension headache, hemicrania continua, and new daily persistent headache.
Sinus headache comes with a deep and constant pain in the forehead, cheekbones, or on the bridge of the nose.

Posttraumatic stress headaches usually start 2-3 days after a head injury. The person affected has symptoms like; memory issues, getting tired quickly, lightheadedness, vertigo, dull ache that only gets worse from time to time, and irritability.

You know the funny thing I found while doing the research on this topic, is the presence of sex headache. It is rare and just like the name implies, it is bought by sexual activities, especially with orgasm, or the excitement that accompanies sexual excitement. Most sex headaches are really nothing to worry about, but some could also be an indication of something serious so seeing a doctor when it persists is important.

As a woman, there is so much we need to be careful about, from what we wake up to the environment we choose to stay because these things effectively contribute to our overall well-being. We cannot compare ourselves to the male gender as what their body could tolerate our bodies may not be able to tolerate.
