The Danger/ Danger's behind Drug Abuse.

Hubby and I literarily saved a young lady from running into a coming vehicle a few days ago, she was at a peak of being (high) on whatever it was she took, we were sure it was some illicit drugs, she was misbehaving and saying all manner of things. It was dark, so we didn't want her to fall into the wrong hands.

We took her in and tried to ask about her family members or someone we could call, but she couldn't give us a straight response, so we collected her phone and tried reaching out to the number she called last, but she started screaming, please don't call my family members, make sure you don't call them. We just had to call someone to make sure she was safe, the last number she called was her friend and when she came, it was clear they both engaged in the act together her friend told us they got their substance from a different person that day, and that was the reason behind her misbehavior.

Her friend took her away and my neighbor was telling me about a similar incident that happened in her presence, where the guy ran mad. It is so sad that despite the various information spread widely across the media about the danger of this illicit drug intake, it has become a comfort zone for a lot of young minds lately. Some even overdose on what we consider normal drugs.

Overdose is what so many people do these days, it is the intake of an excessive amount of drugs or medicine. But these days we have people overdosing on substances like; alcohol, herbal substances, and illegal drugs too.
An overdose could result in serious, harmful episodes or death. Taking excessive substances on purpose is referred to as an intentional act of overdose, and sometimes, we also have cases of accidental overdose.

Overdose could happen in a mild, moderate, or serious manner. The symptoms, treatment, and overall recovery depend on the substance involved. Symptoms of overdose include; chest pain, diarrhoea, vomiting, severe stomach pain and abdominal cramps, loss of balance, seizures, confusion, agitation, hallucination, loss of consciousness, and snoring.

With excessive overdose, the person in question could stop breathing and even die if not treated appropriately. The person may need to be admitted to the hospital for continued treatment, but there are times when there is permanent brain damage.

The best way to avoid the overdose of illicit drugs is to completely stay away from them, but some people will argue about their medicinal usage, some countries even have some of them legalized, so the consumption might not be a problem there but the abuse is most definitely an issue.

If you haven't used an illicit drug like heroin for some time, your tolerance risk will likely be lower than it was before, so you should use a smaller amount at first. Ensure you are in a safe environment with people you trust when taking these drugs, and if you are using the drugs from an unsafe source, make sure to use a smaller amount at first.

Addiction is terrible.

One reason why I do not think the use of illicit drugs is advisable is because of how addictive they could get, but people can get addicted to different things aside from these illicit drugs, people get addicted even to normal medications. But, addiction is terrible, it affects a person's behavior and brain.

When a person is addicted to drugs, he is usually unable to resist the urge to use them, regardless of how much harm could be caused. At first, drug-addictive patients may choose to use drugs simply because they like how it makes them feel, but over time, these drugs would begin to change the function of the brain. The physical changes could last a very long time resulting in damaging control.

You can tell a person is addicted when he cannot stop, even when his health, finances, and emotions are in danger. The brain is wired in such a way that it will want to make you repeat the experiences over and over, as the brain's reward system is targeted, flooding the brain with a chemical called dopamine. More of the drug may be required to continuously get the same good feeling.

Drug overdose can affect anyone, regardless of their age or sex. With normal medicinal drugs, the effect is felt based on their normal intake, excessive use produces a more heightened feeling with side effects being more pronounced.

People react differently to drug overdose, so do not attempt to take care of the affected patients yourself. I have watched some videos where some victims are being slapped vigorously to get them back to their senses, in other cases, some have lots of water poured on them, but the best thing is to call an emergency care unit to come handle the case professionally because sometimes, things get out of hand, and the patient may become mentally insane for a long time sometimes for life.
