Los odontólogos para identificar los dientes en boca debemos dividir la cavidad bucal en diferentes arcadas dentarias las cuales son cuatro cuadrantes cuadrante superior izquierdo, superior derecho, inferior izquierdo y inferior derecho, nos permite trabajar de una manera organizada, muchos pacientes tienden a confundirse cuando escuchan a los odontólogos hablar de numeros, cada pieza dentaria tiene un número en específico que viene dado por la enumeración de los cuadrantes.

Para identificar los dientes en boca estará basado en 4 digitos, que hace referencia a cada número de los cuadrantes los cuáles van enumerados en el sentido de las agujas del reloj, en ese mismo sentido el número del cuadrante estará enmaracado del numero en cuestión, es decir primer cuadrante es la semiarcada superior derecha, el cuadrante dos es la semiarcada superior izquierda, el tercer cuadrante hemiarcada inferior izquierda y el cuarto cuadrante es la inferior derecha.

To identify the teeth in the mouth will be based on 4 digits, which refers to each number of the quadrants which are numbered clockwise, in the same sense the number of the quadrant will be framed by the number in question, i.e. first quadrant is the upper right half-arch, quadrant two is the upper left half-arch, the third quadrant is the lower left half-arch and the fourth quadrant is the lower right half-arch.

Debemos saber que cada cuadrante contiene 8 dientes o piezas dentarias, esto es sólo en adultos ya que en niños sólo contiene en cada cuadrante 5 piezas dentarias. Por lo tanto el incisivo central es el número 1, el 2 es el incisivo lateral, el canino numero 3, el primer premolar es el 4, el segundo premolar es el 5, el primer molar es el 6, segundo molar el 7 y los molares de juicio u cordales son los 8, en cada cuadrante serán enumerados de la misma manera, lo que cambia es que debemos agregar los números correspondientes al cuadrante en sentido de las agujas del reloj.

We should know that each quadrant contains 8 teeth or dental pieces, this is only in adults as in children each quadrant only contains 5 dental pieces. Therefore the central incisor is number 1, number 2 is the lateral incisor, the canine number 3, the first premolar is number 4, the second premolar is number 5, the first molar is number 6, the second molar is number 7 and the wisdom teeth are number 8, in each quadrant they will be numbered in the same way, what changes is that we must add the numbers corresponding to the quadrant in a clockwise direction.

Por ejemplo: En el primer cuadrante estará enmaracado en el número uno, es decir 11 incisivo central superior derecho, 12 incisivo lateral superior derecho, 13 canino superior derecho, 14 primer premolar superior derecho, 15 segundo premolar superior derecho, 16 primer molar superior derecho , 17 segundo molar superior derecho y 18 tercer molar superior derecho, en el segundo cuadrante serán 21 incisivo central izquierdo, 22 incisivo lateral izquierdo superior, 23 canino superior izquierdo, 24 primer premolar superior izquierdo, 25 segundo premolar superior izquierdo, 26 primer molar superior izquierdo , 27 segundo molar superior izquierdo y 28 tercer molar superior izquierdo.

Ahora vamos con los dientes inferiores, en el tercer cuadrante 31 que es el incisivo central inferior izquierdo, 32 incisivo lateral inferior izquierdo, 33 canino inferior izquierdo, 34 primer premolar inferior izquierdo, 35 segundo premolar inferior izquierdo, 36 primer molar inferior izquierdo, 37 segundo molar inferior izquierdo y 38 tercer molar inferior izquierdo, el cuarto cuadrante que es el último son 41 que es incisivo central inferior derecho, 42 incisivo lateral inferior derecho, 43 canino inferior derecho, 44 primer premolar inferior derecho, 45 segundo premolar inferior derecho, 46 primer molar inferior derecho, 47 segundo molar inferior derecho, 48 tercer molar inferior derecho.

Now let's go to the lower teeth, in the third quadrant 31 which is the lower left central incisor, 32 lower left lateral incisor, 33 lower left canine, 34 lower left first premolar, 35 lower left second premolar, 36 lower left first molar, 37 lower left second molar and 38 lower left third molar, the fourth quadrant which is the last quadrant are 41 which is lower right central incisor, 42 lower right lateral incisor, 43 lower right canine, 44 lower right first premolar, 45 lower right second premolar, 46 lower right first molar, 47 lower right second molar, 48 lower right third molar.
