"Exploring new possibilities: My foray into laser cutting" [ENG-ESP]

Welcome to my post once again, I'm Nitsu and I want to share with you another small achievement for my venture, after saving and thinking about other possibilities of services that I could provide it occurred to me to invest in a laser cutter and engraver, so I will tell you how I took this decision, I will show the assembly and use of the machine.

Bienvenidos a mi post una vez más, soy Nitsu y quiero compartir con ustedes otro pequeño logro para mi emprendimiento, tras ahorrar y pensar en otras posibilidades de servicios que podía brindar se me ocurrió invertir en una cortadora y grabadora laser, así que les contare como tome esta decisión, mostrare el armado y uso de la máquina.
I made this purchase last year, but just now I am having time to write, I had some money and as you know here in Argentina money devalues day by day, having it saved was not even close to an option so I started to see my range of possibilities. I first thought about another 3D printer but looking at it from an objective point of view I don't have much space, I'm not willing to handle more than three printers because it takes a lot of time even more if you have to repair them and also I wanted something different because where I study there are many people who offer 3D printing services and the places that are in charge of laser cutting and engraving are usually very full, do not meet the times or are closed on Sundays, so there I saw my opportunity to introduce myself and earn some money.
Esta compra la realice el año pasado, pero recién ahora estoy teniendo tiempo para escribir, tenia algo de dinero y como sabrán aquí en Argentina el dinero de devalúa día a día, tenerlo guardado no era ni de cerca una opción así que comencé a ver mi abanico de posibilidades. Pensé primero en otra impresora 3D pero viéndolo desde un punto de vista objetivo de por si no cuento con mucho espacio, no estoy dispuesto a manejar más de tres impresoras porque conlleva mucho tiempo más aun si hay que repararlas y además quería algo diferente porque en donde estudio hay mucha gente que ofrece servicios de impresión 3D y los lugares que se encargan de corte y grabado laser generalmente están muy llenos, no cumplen con los tiempos o están cerrados los domingos, así que ahí vi mi oportunidad de introducirme y ganar algo de dinero.
This machine cost me $106,000 Argentine pesos or the equivalent of $300 dollars, it was a great investment but at the right time because the dollar increased here and imports were closed, today this same equipment is costing $210,000 Argentine pesos or $580 dollars, almost double. Crazy!
Esta máquina me costó $106.000 pesos argentinos o el equivalente a $300 dólares, fue una gran inversión pero en el momento justo debido a que luego aquí aumento el dólar sumado a que se cerraron las importaciones, a día de hoy este mismo equipo esta costando $210.000 pesos argentinos o $580 dólares, prácticamente el doble. ¡Una locura!

I started to see the different laser engravers on the market, there was a module that adapts to a printer and serves to record, but has little power 1.5w then I started to see the Creality machines and other brands, but I ended up opting for the Creality Laser Falcon 5W. A machine with a good space to work, which does not need to be connected to the PC and that was close to my possibilities to buy it, so I looked where I could buy it, I made the payment and it arrived the same day.
Empecé a ver las diferentes grabadoras lasers del mercado, había un modulo que se adapta a una impresora y sirve para grabar, pero tiene poca potencia 1,5w después empecé a ver las máquinas de Creality y también de otras marcas, pero terminé decantándome por la Creality Laser Falcon de 5W. Una maquina con un buen espacio para trabajar, que no hace falta que este conectada a la PC y que se acercaba a mis posibilidades para comprarla, así que me fije donde podía comprarla, realice el pago y me llego el mismo día.
It took several days before I could start assembling the pieces, but once I started nothing stopped me, I opened the box like a child at Christmas opening a present, it came well protected and when I opened it the first thing I found were the aluminum structural rods, some screws and the laser module, which is really the most expensive part of the equipment. It also came with some small laminated pine boards to perform the first cutting and engraving tests. One observation I have to make is that the machine is very light, it can be easily lifted with one hand and I would dare to say that it weighs 3kg or less.
Pararon varios días antes de poder empezar a montar las piezas, pero una vez comencé nada me detuvo, abrí la caja cual niño en navidad abriendo un regalo, vino bien protegida y al abrirlo con lo primero que me tope fueron con las varillas estructurales de aluminio, algunos tornillos y el modulo laser, que realmente es lo más caro del equipo. También venían unas pequeñas tablas de pino laminado para realizar las primeras pruebas de corte y grabado. Una observación que tengo que hacer es que la maquina es muy liviana, se puede levantar fácilmente con una mano y me animaría a decir que pesa 3kg o menos.

The total working area is 400 x 415mm, the method to focus the laser is simple because it has a small leg on the side of the laser module that separates it from the base to have a good focus point for either cutting or engraving. The assembly was very simple, I almost did not need the instructions, although perhaps I felt it easy because I am already familiar with the assembly system of 3D printers; I started assembling the square structure joining it with the links of the legs and some screws, then I placed the horizontal axis with the laser module and passed some straps on both sides adjusting them with enough tension to run well. The assembly should not have taken me more than an hour, but it took me a little longer to take the pictures for this post.
El área total de trabajo es de 400 x 415mm el método para enfocar el laser es sencillo ya que cuenta con una pequeña patita al costado del modulo laser que lo separa de la base para tener bien el punto de enfoque ya sea para cortar o grabar. El armado fue muy sencillo, casi no necesite las instrucciones, aunque tal vez lo sentí fácil porque ya estoy familiarizado con el sistema de armado de las impresoras 3D; comencé armando la estructura cuadrada uniéndolo con los vínculos de las patas y unos tornillos, posteriormente coloque el eje horizontal con el modulo laser y pase unas correas por ambos lados ajustándolas con la suficiente tensión para que corrieran bien. El armado no me habrá tomado más de una hora, pero tarde un poco más al sacar las fotos para este post.

Once I had it ready I had to make the first test, for this I used the Gcode that came inside the memory card which recorded on a paper the word CREALITY, I did not take pictures of it because I did not find it interesting but what I am going to share with you is my first laser engraving configured by me. This was more complicated because I had to learn how to use Light Burn to work with this machine. I researched around and found different laser engraving programs and I came to the conclusion that Light Burn was the most appropriate, but at the same time difficult to use. Well the other programs have very limited functionalities that don't let you squeeze 100% out of your machine so I thought: - If I'm going to learn to use something new it better be something that will be very useful even if it's difficult.
Una vez lo tenia listo tocaba hacer la primera prueba, para ello utilice el Gcode que venía dentro de la tarjeta de memoria la cual grabo en un papel la palabra CREALITY, a eso no le tome fotos porque no me pareció interesante pero lo que si voy a compartirles es mi primer grabado laser configurado por mí. Esto si fue más complicado porque tuve que aprender a utilizar el Light Burn para trabajar con esta máquina. Investigue por ahí y encontré diferentes programas para grabar en laser y llegue a la conclusión de que el Light Burn era el más apropiado, pero a su vez difícil ¿Por qué se preguntaran? Bueno los otros programas tienen funcionalidades muy acotadas que no te dejan exprimir al 100% tu maquina así que pensé:- Si voy a aprender a usar algo nuevo mejor que sea algo que me sea de suma utilidad aunque sea difícil.

It took me a few days to download the program because I couldn't get it anywhere, once I had it I searched youtube for a short course or explanation to begin to know the work environment, luckily I found a playlist of 10 videos that helped me a lot to understand everything I could do, how to configure the pieces, how to cut or record and the first thing I decided to do was to record on a MDF plate the EVA figure of Evangelion.
Me tomo unos días descargar el programa porque no lo conseguía por ningún lado, una vez lo tuve busque por youtube algún curso corto o explicación para comenzar a conocer el entorno de trabajo, por suerte encontré una lista de reproducción de 10 videos que me ayudo muchísimo a ir entendiendo todo lo que podía hacer, como configurar las piezas, como cortar o grabar y lo primero que decidí hacer fue grabar en una placa de MDF la figura del EVA de Evangelion.
The result was very good. When my girlfriend saw it she wanted to take it with her, but I told her that I would prepare a nicer one for her since this was just a test. What else can I say? It is a team that so far has fulfilled, I hope to earn some money, I know I will be able to because once I propose something I put all my energy to make it work and this will be no exception. Surely later I will bring other work or projects so I hope you can be attentive to this beautiful community.
El resultado fue muy bueno ¡Es más! Cuando mi novia lo vio se lo quería llevar, pero yo le dije que le prepararía uno más lindo ya que este era solo una prueba. ¿Qué más puedo decir? Es un equipo que hasta ahora ha cumplido, espero poder ganar algo de dinero, yo se que voy a poder porque una vez me propongo algo pongo todas mis energías para que eso funcione y esta no será una excepción. Seguramente más adelante traiga otros trabajo o proyectos así que espero que puedan estar atento a esta bella comunidad.

Estuve haciendo algunas pruebas en materiales que espero poder traer en otro post pero tenes razón, las posibilidades son enormes pero a veces el tiempo y las ganas no acompañan.
Esa fue una compra muy acertada, siempre se busca un nicho que no esté saturado de ofertas.
¿Puedes hacer circuitos impresos con ese equipo? Sería genial, tiene muy buenas perspectivas.
