Trust Me, I Know What I’m Doing
Did you know that your sensory organs work in alignment with each other? Also, have you ever thought about why you are able to perceive your eye drop in your nose or in your throat after using a few drops? I guess now we’ve established that your senses are all connected in subtle ways.
This is my entry to this weeks weekly contest where I’m someone who was born with no taste buds and is on a career path to be a chef and this requires the use of my taste buds. How am I going to get out of this dilemma? Am I going to give up on my dreams or find a way out.
I’m not a quitter and as we all know quitters never win. Rather than having pity on myself about my situation and giving up, I’d rather take advantage of the resources I have. We thank God for science and also the lovely people around us. This is my plan to getting to the top even in my not so good but good situation.
As our sensory organs are connected, different factors come to play in our ability to smell and taste. When it comes to taste , the tongue is has 5 basic taste and for you to even taste something perfectly, you’d have inhaled the smell first and some particles from the food would have been inhaled contributing to taste in your mouth. I’d like to believe that even without taste buds, I’m able to taste the food I cook but not 100%.
Since I need to have 100% tasting ability, I’m going to make use of my family and friends first. I’d have a weekly roster where everyone would take turns spending the day with me at work. As I cook, this individual will be there to taste and give feedback throughout the process and to top it all he or she would be the first person to taste the meal when it’s ready. Who doesn’t want a free meal? I’m sure @abu78 and @yahuzah would be glad to hop on this deal.😂
As time goes on, with the help of my personal(friends and family) tasters I would have gotten used to the meals I cook and known the exact amount of whatever is needed to make the meal have a perfect taste. From there, I’d now look into a different view which would be to invite various sensory analysts from all over the word to taste my meals and give feedback. And oh, I would be on air. Who wouldn’t want to be on air to taste food from someone with no taste buds? It would even be a plus to us both. This move would put me out there more and I’d be looking to attract investors and possible collaborators.
It’s not all about tasting food, it’s about how you view the world. We have over 1000 chefs out there but it’s what you do and how you do it that makes you stand out. For me, I like to make people feel included and also not look down on myself and my abilities because our imperfections make us perfect in a way.
So, this is my million dollar plan to make it to the top of the game in being a chef. I hope you enjoyed reading this, thank you for your time.

Your wish is my command sir!😄
Can I register to be on the tasting list?
The only think you need to know is that when I’m tasting food I need to finish the whole plate or two before making my judgment and if possible send some home for the next day
😂😂😂if you send some home for the next day you’ll make me go bankrupt. Adwuma nu b3 gu 😂 I can’t afford that please.
😂😂😂😂😂
You are just so right about our sensory connection and the eye drop experiments.
Even cutting the onion 🧅, the smell gets to the nose before the eye starts dropping tears 😭.
Nice one @nhaji01. Lovely dishes so yummy 😋👍

I feel like people that are usually challenged in a certain way produce exceptional results. Because of a loss of that sense, they focus their other senses into making sure they excel in what they do.
And like you said, once you have been able to figure out the right amount of spices you need, it will never go wrong because you would be very conscious of it.
My own is that, where does the rest of food go after getting people to taste it? My opinion, give it to the needy (me😌)
People who are challenged can be very very exceptional because they know they’re not like everyone so they tend to pay more attention to detail.
😂😂😂that’s why I have restaurant. You guys will come and buy the food so I’ll make money.
But we will get discounts right?🌝
