My Reading Journey: When Pages and Screens Meet
For as long as I can remember, books have been the center of my life. At a young age, I was reading about two novels a day. Aside that, any book I laid my eyes on, I wanted to read. My mom started to find it annoying because I would eat with a book in my hand, sit in a bus and still be reading and even sleep with my books on some days. It was like I was unstoppable.
But then, life happened. I grew up and had so many responsibilities to take care of. I didn’t have much time to read books like I did in my leisure time as I kid. I didn’t even have leisure time anymore because apparently I’m an adult, and a busy one at that. But I always say that, once a lover of something, always a lover.
The advancement of technology today has played a huge role in helping me keep up with my love for reading. These days, we have everything online and so I no longer need to buy books to read. With just a single search and download, I get to read any book I want. However, the kind of books I read now have changed a lot. I barely have time for novels unless I have a long break. These days, my reading has been more inclined to my work.
The last time I read a novel was about two weeks ago and it was titles Tomorrow I become a woman. I can swear that that book make me go through so many emotional moments. From anger, to shame, to sorrow, to pity and whatever emotion you can imagine. But that book was an ebook I downloaded because I couldn’t get the hard copy in Ghana. Speaking of physical books away from science, I last time I read one was a week ago and it was titled Hero. I got this book as a gift from a friend on my birthday this year and the book talks about life on earth and our mission on earth as individuals. It’s really a great book and I really love it as it motivates me every blessed day to keep pushing.
Back to science, I’m currently reading a physical book which I doubt you’d have interest in. It is a pathology book complied by a number of doctors and researchers from their years of research. Today, I’m reading on pathologies of the digestive and hepatobiliary systems. On the side, I’m reading on the embryogenesis of the gastrointestinal tract and all other organs formed along side it and their anomalies. I wouldn’t want to bore you so much and so I’d leave it here.
The good part of my reading habits which I developed at a tender age is the fact that I’m able to utilise it very well no matter what I’m reading. It’s the thought of learning new things that intrigue me the most and that is why I love to read.
