Manuals: Read, Skipped, or Tossed?

I’m that person that would read every little detail on anything I buy. In Ghana, there have been so many cases of people buying expired food or faulty gadgets out there and most at times, they don’t get to return them as most shops have a no return policy. Just a while back,a friend of mine called to tell me she went to get soap from a supermarket only to find out it was expired. I honestly didn’t know soap expired.😂 But since it had an expiry date on it showing it had expired, I told her to check a different shop.

Moving to the technological world, every gadget as I know comes with a users manual. I remember my mom buying me a hot plate years ago to take to school and it came with a manual. God knows I didn’t read it, I just threw it out and sent the hot plate to school. I’m still using the hot plate today and it’s in very good shape even though I struggled to use it for the start as I was getting electrocuted all the time.😂 If only I had that manual I threw out.

For my phone, I didn’t come with a manual because it if to be sent to me from home. So, you can imagine the kind of wrapping and packaging it had to go through. It only came with a phone case and a charger. But,do people ever read manuals for phones? I mean we already know our way around phones so what’s there to read. But yeah, I’m sure some people do read manuals that come with their phones.

If there’s a manual for an appliance I bought that I had to read over and over again, it would have to be the manual that came with my standing fan when I bought. For someone who had never fixed an electrical appliance from scratch, I didn’t know how I was going to pull that off when I bought a standing fan after sleeping in a hot room for a whole week, thanks to my landlord.

So, I bought the fan and right from where I bought it, I started asking so many questions before I get home and it turns out to be a disaster. Good thing is, the manual wasn’t that detailed but it helped a lot. I fixed the fan from start to finish but I still think I didn’t get everything right because it’s been making noise for a while now. But I tried my best.😅

Do you read manuals that come with your electronic appliances?

I don't usually read manuals, I just start using the product. I just got an earpod a few days, and for the very first time, I read the manual 😅.
I'm glad I actually did because it was really helpful.

I enjoyed reading.

I think the only time I ever read a manual was during my pre-teen years, when my mom bought a new phone. Presently, I see myself as a brain box that needs no manual to operate the gadgets I buy. May God help me

I struggled to use it for the start as I was getting electrocuted all the time.

I still have PTSD from using hot plate😂😂😂 anything electrical cooker scares the living out of me.

I’d wear slippers, and I’d put everything inside the pot so I don’t get to touch the pot again, or better still I use my gas cooker midway, I can’t shout oo

This was such a fun read. I didn't know soap expired either - learn something new everyday. And girl, assembly that fan? You did great, noise and all
