Alternate Realities: A Glimpse Into What Could’ve Been

The story of how I went to university is actually a funny one. First of all, I wasn’t so sure of the course I wanted to study in the university because I had two in my. And so I decided to take a gap year. But apparently, my dad has applied to the university for me during that time. I got admission, but I didn’t like the course as it was far from what I wanted. So, I still took the gap year.

Fast forward to the next year, I applied to about 3 universities, certain of what I wanted to pursue. And in the time, I was also exploring many other things beyond school during my gap year. I learnt new skills , spent time with my family, did different things, and didn’t forget to have fun in the process. The school year was fast approaching in a twinkle of an eye and applications were coming in. I applied to the top universities in the country but I knew which one I wanted to attend. I received application letters from two universities and I was waiting on the third one because that was what I wanted. On the side, my dad once again applied to a different university for me and the next day after he applied I got admission.

I was surprised at how it happened but I told him we should wait for the school I really wanted to get back though I had three admissions already. We waited and waited and waited and still nothing. So, I decided to take the risk and go to the university my dad applied to on my behalf. It was very far away from home as compared to the other two and I wanted to experience life away and try something new for once in my life. I prepared, packed up and my dad once again journeyed with me all the way to my school and left me in my university room. Just as my dad was about to set off back home, I received my admission letter from the university I actually wanted. He told me we could go back and pay the fees that school if I wanted it to badly. I thought about the fees and hostel accommodation fees that have already been paid and it didn’t make sense to let all that go and pay new ones. After all, it was the same degree.

I told him since I’m already here, why not give it a try. And that’s what I did. The first few weeks were tough on me, honestly. I didn’t get good food to eat and what I got made me run. The environment and the water weren’t what I was used to. I suffered a lot. But I settled in and started to live normally, make friends and learn also. With time, I already knew my way around things. I used to think the school was very tough for me but now that I’ve completed, I look back and see how this school has impacted me.

I must admit, this school has impacted me so much that I can’t even imagine what my life would look like without this school. I connections I build during my four years in school have helped me so much , I opportunities I got in school are more than I could ever ask for and the support I got in school was top notch. I literally had a whole family in school and even people I didn’t know were low-key looking out for me. Honestly, this has to be the best choice I have ever made when it comes to my choice of school. The fact that I didn’t know what was in store for me but hoped for the best made every experience worth it.

If I had gone to a different university, I wouldn’t even be where I am today because I doubt things would turn out this way. I probably would be in another part of the world living a totally different life. I don’t regret attending my university and I would actually make the s ame choice again if I got the chance.

Wow🤭...three admission only for u? That's incredible , whereas many ppl seek admission for many years without success .
It was good you didn't make ur dad pay for a new fees in the school u wanted but their admission came late

Good enough , this school impacted ur life and u have great story to tell
Was it a private university ?

That was a very funny experience indeed and am so grateful that your Dad was just there to help you through does baby choice and his patience to allow you make your own choice too.

Having three admissions or four now at almost the same time is not a small feat. Congratulations, and I wish you greater achievements

It's actually okay that you still attendes the school you dad picked. And see It still turned out okay. If it were another school , yes it would be another experience and all

Your dad is a good support system for you, always there trying to ensure you have the best. I'm glad you stuck to your father's choice of university and today you are happy with the outcome.
