Collaborations for advancement.

Last year robotic humanoids emerged from the pages of science fiction for the first commercial tests, today in 2024 GXO logistics announced an early-stage proof-of-concept program with eltronic Inc, an advanced robotics startup.

This collaboration aims to develop the apollo, an AI-enabled humanoid designed to revolutionize logistics, “we are excited about our collaboration with eltronic to develop the apollo,” said Adrian Stock, director of automation at GXO logistics.

This robot has the potential to transform distribution centers by improving efficiency and safety by reducing repetitive tasks, allowing our human employees to focus on higher-value activities, the apollo created by eltronic from its laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin , stands out for its height of 1.73 cm and load capacity of 25 kg.

Capabilities

Equipped with interchangeable batteries for greater autonomy, the Apolo was designed to collaborate with humans and uses advanced technology of linear actuators that imitate human mobility, guaranteeing safety when working in proximity with people. In addition to its collaboration with GXO, eltronic integrates the apollo to the nvidia's basic model for learning robots as part of its Group project.

Mercedes-benz is also testing this versatile humanoid highlighting its potential for industrial and logistics applications with a mutual commitment to innovation and safety GXO logistics and eltronic are jointly evaluating the performance of the Apolo in the laboratory before its implementation in the distribution centers of USA.

This project represents a significant step in creating scalable automation solutions that promote a safer and more efficient work environment. GXO logistics, a global leader in contract logistics, plans to integrate Apollo into more operations benefiting from the growth of e-commerce and automation.

With more than 130,000 employees in 970 facilities, the company seeks to optimize its infrastructure with a force control structure and a flexible security zone. The Apolo promises to not only improve efficiency and achieve significant advances in warehouse automation, but also create an environment safer and more collaborative work.

This program from Apptronik marks a crucial step in implementing scalable automation that promises to redefine the future of global logistics.
