UK Army tests super soldier technology

The British Army is about to revolutionize the battlefield with a series of wearable military technologies, including devices capable of controlling drones and detecting lasers, the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Anglian Regiment located in Leher will be the first to test this innovative technology by evaluating its usefulness and learning to use it.

Among the proven technologies, the devices that alert when lasers are pointed at the troops stand out. The technology detects the wavelengths of the lasers and triggers an alert for the user to take the necessary measures. Another innovation is the wearables that allow soldiers to operate directly. unmanned aerial vehicles, drone thermal detection systems, laser rangefinders, advanced day and night digital optics and a mesh network that extends the range of communication by jumping the radio signal from one soldier to another are also being tested.

Battlefield technologies.

The digital system is standardized and offers personalized control for each specific mission, an interesting aspect is the helmet-mounted strobe warning system that can identify friend or foe includes an electronic beacon to help locate the soldier.

Another important technology is the Smart Hub a brain that integrates the power and data supply for all digital devices, this technology also provides a better overview of assets in the field and the interconnectivity of the devices allows troops to send data, moving images and videos with ease.

Scientists from the Defense Science and Technology Laboratory conduct these tests demonstrating that small changes in Infantry tactics with improved command and control, communications, computing, and information systems can significantly improve operational results.

Objectives include increasing the tempo of battle and improving real-time decision-making capabilities by helping troops think and act faster than the enemy, this cutting-edge technology will bolster operational lethality and elevate battlefield awareness. .

All made possible by continued collaboration between government, industry and scientists on this innovative programme, the next phase of testing will include the exploration of vehicle-mounted options and the development of a joint soldier system with UK allies and according to The British Armed Forces further development and experimentation will continue over the next 5 years evolving as new technologies become available.
