Then also, you may be aware that our theme for this week as led by the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness and World Health Organization is Love Your Eyes at Work. Which should mean that we would be learning some few things about our eyes and .work safety. And so today i want to share some few tips to all our benefit with more focused on individuals that uses electronics or laptops at work.

Eye Tips at Work

  • Follow Your Work Hazard Guidelines;

There's certainly a reason why each work has its own safety rules, guidelines, dress code, protective gear, etc. And as you may have already guessed, this is to protect us from potential harm should anything happen or in the long run, perhaps due to some exposure we get to certain chemicals or radiations.

Which is why the first tip is to heed to your safety protocols at work, especially with regards to your eyes. Do not take them for granted, if you ought to wear googles at work do not skip it with different kinds of excuses, if it is demanded you have specialized lenses for work, get them from your primary eye care provider. This that may not even be directly related to the eye such as helmet could save you from injuries which would inevitably affect your eyes and your sight.

  • Do not keep your screens at 90 Degrees

If you work with laptops or monitors it is imperative that you do not keep your screens at a rigid 90 degrees angle as it would put strain on your eyes and make work more tiring for you. You are likely to get headaches as the strain persist and your output may be affect.

Instead keep it around 60 degrees, pulled a bit back and away from the eyes, this would provide you with the natural way of reading as it is done and allow your eyes to work relaxed thereby taking away the situation of strain on the eye. In addition to this i would say avoid glare on your screen, make sure no direct light is falling on it especially if you do not have anti reflective coating.

  • Take Breaks

The last thing i am going to mention is the need to take breaks from work every now and then. Follow the 20 20 20 rule and even if you cannot do it strictly making effort towards it would do you a lot of good. You can set reminders too if your work is quite consuming. The rule is simple, after about 20 minutes behind the screen, take your eyes off and look 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Then you can go back to work, this would allow your eyes to switch between the near and distance, bring some stretch and relaxation to your eye muscles too. You can activate the night light or the red free filter on your screen to ease the brightness on your eyes and increase the warm, this is very beneficial if you work at night and in a lot so illuminated environment, you save yourself a lot of stress.

Conclusion

So there you have it folks, something to keep us going and keeping our eyes in healthy state even as we prepare to celebrate world sight day and remind ourselves of the need to safe guard our sight at work.
