Maryani's mother is a pandan mat artisan who still diligently dries pandan mats. Chicken mats made from pandan are still preserved in Aceh, Indonesia. Unfortunately, the culture of shaming has begun to be left behind by the current generation. Especially Aceh woven pandan mat is a cultural heritage that is very close to its local community. Almost every house in Aceh there is a pandan mat at home.

The basic material of this mat is pandan leaves. These leaves are known as thorny, sharp leaves and the leaves are slightly harder than other leaves. In addition to the leaves of pandan mats also use dye as an additional material. The colors used to color so that the mat is rich with various patterns and colors.

In the process of making pandan mats are actually not complicated, first the artisans cut pandan leaves from the stem, then after the leaves are finished cutting, the leaves are dried, discarded thorns and boiled until the necessary dose. Panda mat leaves have sharp spines, which is why these thorns must be discarded first, in a special way to use tools from wood that bananas install at the ends. Just like Maryani's mother did.

Making pandan mats even once looks simple and easy, actually the manufacture of pandan mats takes a long time. From cutting, cleaning thorns, boiling, drying and lastly woven. Sometimes pandan mat artisan mothers spend fifteen days just for a piece of mat. That's not a little time, isn't it?

The villagers who live there already know that maryani's mother as a pandan mat artisan. From maryani's mother they ordered him to order a mat.

The price of the mat also varies depending on the pattern of the mat to be ordered. Maryani's mother explained that the mats she uses are very diverse to determine the price usually she takes the benchmark with the difficulty of her weeding the mat. The harder a mat is nyam, the more expensive it is.

Maryani's mother said she was very happy to continue weaning. In addition to being able to meet the needs of the family he can also continue to preserve the weeding culture that is increasingly left behind. So said Maryani's mother with a smile.
