Taking a backup of my data
Since the last 2 weeks my laptop fan has been making sounds and it keeps giving me some error and warning messages about the processor. First few days I did not bother much but then I started to feel worried as the frequency of the sound has started increasing. I do understand I need to give my laptop for repair. It's a Dell model which I purchased around 2 years back and it's started to give me problems. The one before I had was Lenovo and I used it for 4 years and never gave me a single problem. Before that all my previous ones were also Dell, so I had decided to go in for it again but now this one is disappointing me.
Till date I had never purchased an external hard drive as I never felt a need of it, but then finally yesterday I bought one. I was quite surprised to see that these external hard drives are so expensive. I checked for the Samsung one and just a 500 GB drive was costing around 6000 Rupees which is around 70$. I am not much into gadgets so I have no clue of these things as to how much they cost and all.
Honestly, I did not want to invest much as it's just a temporary thing. I do not even have that kind of data that I need to invest in an expensive drive. My data is just around 70 GB. I told hubby that let's take one 100 GB pen drive and that would be ok, which I would get at 10$, but he insisted that let's buy one hard drive and keep it in case if we need in future again. Finally, we bought the My Passport WD 1 TB Hard drive. I do not know what is the difference between WD and SSD. The guy at the shop told us that for our type of use, it will be good and that we really do not need to spend a lot buying the Samsung one. This one costed me 3800 INR which is 45$. I found this also expensive but then thought to take it for once. Actually, I do not like to spend money on these things. I barely use them so find it very unnecessary to buy expensive ones.
Today morning I took the back up of all my data. It is not much as I mentioned. But there is some valuable data so I had to. Basically, all my Corporate Training programs and all my office work files back up had to be taken, because if I lose them then it's a big loss for me. It's all my Corporate work for the last 15 years. Just not the Corporate work, but all my Healing work as well, all that I have learned and what I teach, the presentations and excels. Also, I am fond of music and I have some 2000 collection of songs which I have collected since last many years, all my favorites and I do not want to lose them. And not to miss my picture gallery which are also photographs of last so many years which are a real treasure for me.
The back up happened super-fast. I thought it would take me couple of hours, but it was done in just around 15 minutes, all of it around 100 GB data. Quite impressed with the technology. Today I will go to the laptop repair guy and see by when he will repair and give it to me. And till then will be accessing everything from my phone. Quite a headache but needs to be done.

I am surprised that you have not bought an external backup before. You can order your fans on Amazon and replace them yourself if you feel courageous. I did that 1 month ago on my laptop because I let it open 24 hours a day for a game and the speed of one of the fans makes a tremendous noise.
I don't think I can ever do it myself. I have zero techie knowledge so it's best for me to go to an expert.
Mine one also keeps making noise and I am feeling so irritated with it :-(

Thank you!
Dell is a good brand, my first choice is buying a laptop yet end up in MSI as the latter was pricey 🤣.
But my keyboard malfunctioned after a year 😬
Ya, it is a good brand but this one has really disappointed me. My earlier Lenovo one was a much cheaper one and yet functioned very well for 4 years
