It was May 3rd. I was walking by my pond in the afternoon. Suddenly, I saw a strange insect on a dry branch in the grass. Looking at the insect's back, I was surprised. It had two clear white spots on its back, it looked like it was looking at me with two eyes.

After taking the picture, after a little research with the help of iNaturalist, I found out that it is actually a type of stink bug. Its scientific name is Eysarcoris guttigerus. They are easily recognized by those two beautiful white spots on their back.

I thought I would share some information about this interesting insect with you, which I have read about them on various sites.

Where they live: They mainly like to live in slightly damp or humid places. Their favorite places are the banks of our pond, grass, weeds or crop fields. They do not run around much, most of the time they prefer to sit quietly under leaves or on branches.
What do they eat: There is nothing to be afraid of, they do not bite or harm humans. They have a long, narrow, needle-like proboscis in front of their mouth. With this proboscis, they suck the sap from young leaves, stems, and seeds of grass or crops.
Reproduction: The mother insects lay many eggs in clusters on the opposite side of the leaves of the plant. The eggs look like small drums. After the eggs hatch, they change their shells several times and gradually turn into full-fledged winged insects.
Interesting fact: There is a big reason why they are called Gandhi insects. If you try to catch them or they are scared for some reason, they secrete a very foul-smelling substance or liquid from their bodies to protect themselves. Because of this smell, many birds or animals do not want to eat them easily.
Hope you like it.
