A Simple Solution to Crush Digital Misinformation

Digital communication is connecting people around the globe with tremendous benefits, but is also being misused in terrible ways that take advantage of the community.

No easy solution exists, but I have a crazy yet plausible idea to undercut the growing problem of digital misinformation.

Freedom requires free-speech, but liberty requires truth. We need a viable framework that provides both to empower citizens without sacrificing rights!

Plenty of talented creative types who got demonetized due to the misleading nature of their content could have been making the big bucks had they simply tagged it 'fiction'.

Plenty of talented people who simply talk about society and making observations along the way combined with a bit of attitude wouldn't be deplatformed had they simply tagged it 'funny'.

That's a bit of a loophole though. Those evening/late night political shows with the fake laughter and corny interviews have always used the 'funny' tag while inserting political propaganda into the minds of viewers who thought they came to be entertained.

Without clear lines, any system is easy to abuse

The funny thing is, the organizations that propagate the disinformation are probably state actors to begin with.

So, appealing to the authority may not have the intended effect you are hoping.

True, but if it opens it up to liability then citizens can sue those organizations. There is always pressure.
