Real Listening Is Rarer Than We Think .

I used to think that letting someone talk meant that I was listening to them but I gradually realized that hearing and listening are not the same thing. It is easy to hear words but it is very difficult to listen to someone with your heart. In today's busy time we all hear very well but very few people listen to someone or try. There have been many times when someone is sitting in front of me talking about their troubles and worries and I am nodding my head from the outside, while our minds are still thinking about my work, my time, my pressure.

One of our problems is that we want the opportunity to talk but do not want to take the responsibility of listening. Everyone is busy telling their own stories and showing their own pain points but very few people have the patience to sit and listen to others' pain points. However I have realized that when a person is truly heard that his pain becomes much lighter without any advice.

The most important thing to understand someone is to let him tell the whole story without judging, without cutting him in the middle, without imposing your own decisions. In today's social life, we are all very alone, yet very connected. There are people around there is social media but there is no real listening. I now understand that people are not really looking for someone to talk to, but someone who can sit quietly by their side until they finish speaking.

Now I try to talk less and listen more but I don't always succeed and I make mistakes . I know that understanding comes from listening not from arguin and the rarer the person who truly listens in this world the more valuable it is.
