Disconnected From the Screen, Reconnected to Life

Nowadays one of the closest things in our lives is our mobile phone. From waking up to going to bed the phone is like our companion. But we often don't realize when this companion gradually takes us away from our family, friends, and colleagues.

A few days ago my Android mobile suddenly broke down. It was late at night and I couldn't turn it on in the morning. At that time I didn't have enough money to buy a new smartphone right away. At that time my only hope was a simple button phone. To be honest I was quite scared at first.

It seemed like I wouldn't be able to live without an Android phone because I wouldn't be able to see any official messages, there was no social media, no YouTube, no opportunity to listen to music. All in all it seemed like I would be in a big danger. But in reality it was the opposit I spent a whole week with that button phone. Surprisingly nothing happened. There was no discomfort no emptiness but at that time I started giving more time to my surroundings.

Not having a phone in hand gave me the opportunity to spend more time with my family. These small moments of sitting together, talking, listening attentively, and laughing made me realize where the real connection really is. Earlier even though we were in the same room we would all be busy with different screens and that week we were truly together.

Phones are not meant to make our lives easier but many times we unknowingly prioritize our phones and leave our families behind. We lose the balance but if we are a little aware it is possible to keep both together. Technology will be there and family relationships will remain intact.

Sometime ago, I spent two days without a phone. Omo! The two days were very long and the worst is that, I wasn't in a place I know people a lot, so it was hard for me to get along with people.
