Oriental magpie-robin observations
The scientific name of Oriental magpie-robin is Copsychus saularis. The bird is abundant in our country although the number of these birds is decreasing day by day. I wake up and listen to these birds because they sing in the morning. The bird is so innocent, calm and beautiful that it stole my heart. When you see them they stay close to you, not darting around like other birds.
They bathe regularly. Usually at low water they descend and bathe by splashing water with a fan. In some cases they also bathe with the water collected on the leaves. So I called it a sacred bird.
The bird, holding tightly to the bamboo shoot, looked at me warily. If I wasn't there I would have jumped there. But he saw me and ran away. He really scared me
The Oriental magpie-robin is usually hopping about and doesn't want to sit still. All birds are fearful. So is this. I would call these birds moderately timid in terms of fear. It will first look at you then notice your actions then fly away.
Oriental magpie-robin is 7 - 8 inches tall, with a short throat that is gray in color. The belly and lower part of this bird is white. It has a long tail that stands upright. Its surface is black and the fins are white and black. In some cases the fins can be white, black and red. Its tail is black at the top and white at the bottom. It may have been made the national bird of our country due to its beauty
They usually live in Asia, neither cold nor warm climates are suitable for them. So you can find them in large quantities in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. I see them in Bangladesh. They live in vegetated areas and where there are fields so that there is no shortage of food for them.
The place where I found him was a 300ft *300ft tree house with lots of wild trees and bamboo. About 500ft away is a river and 600ft away is a farmer's field where paddy and mustard are cultivated. The place is very quiet and many insects live there. People move less in this place and the atmosphere is cooler than the surrounding area
Insects are the main menu item in the Oriental magpie-robin's diet. They usually feed on insects and field insects around their habitat. Small fish are also in their diet.
This bird can build a nest, the female bird's eggs stay in the nest. Can lay 5 to 6 eggs. Male birds are more beautiful than female birds. Male birds attract female birds for breeding. When the birds heat the eggs, the chicks hatch. At this time the birds appear very angry because they have evolved to protect the young.
Globalization threatens the existence of this species of bird. Artificial light and noisy environments are not preferred by the maple robin and are harmful. Birds do not like too much noise. Chemical use in fields is reducing the number of insect spiders. So this bird is lacking in food. As a result, their number is decreasing day by day. To keep the bird alive, the balance of the environment has to be maintained and it has to be done by humans.
