But for things to happen in the best possible way after that transition in the past, little by little rules, laws, and systems were created to make things as safe as possible, and that did not happen overnight.

I believe we will have to do this same work with autonomous cars, a kind of readjustment of the rules and even structural adaptations so that this new form of transportation is as safe as possible or we can simply adapt what we already have to this new cycle. I can also mention the autopilot in airplanes so we can have an even closer comparison with the transition of autonomous cars. Well, maybe this isn’t such a big or impactful novelty after all.

So for all those questions about how to proceed in case of avoidable accidents, who bears the costs, who is to blame, the procedure should be the same and each case will be analyzed to determine the consequences, there shouldn’t be major changes in that. I believe everything we are experiencing is a natural process of the human evolution of technology and all this progress brings more convenience, comfort, and efficiency, we should look at that as well because with more technology, more accidents will be avoided and in the end, human driver error may be much more likely than accidents caused by autonomous cars. But that’s it, we are in a transition and fear is common, doubts arise, but in a short time we will see this as just another technological tool in our daily lives like many others that have emerged.

Acho que as coisas sobre esse tipo de método vão continuar as mesmas e talvez seja a forma mais eficiente e duvido muito que a forma como as coisas são feitas vá mudar. Então por que se preocupar? Acidentes acontecem e medos são comuns, imagine quando o avião foi dado como um meio de transporte, algo bem mais impactante psicologicamente em relação ao medo de acidentes e hoje vemos o avião como algo natural do nosso cotidiano. Ainda posso acrescentar sobre o piloto automático dos aviões para que tenhamos uma proximidade ainda maior com a transição dos carros autônomos? Pois é, talvez isso não seja uma novidade tão impactante assim.

Então para todas aquelas perguntas sobre como proceder em caso de acidentes evitáveis, quem arca com custos, quem é culpado, o procedimento deverá ser o mesmo e cada caso será analisado para determinar as consequências, não deve ter grandes mudanças sobre isso. Acredito que tudo que estamos vivendo é um processo natural da evolução humana da tecnologia e todo esse avanço traz mais comodidade, conforto e eficiência, devemos olhar para isso também pois com mais tecnologia, mais acidentes serão evitados e no final, pode ser que o erro de um motorista humano seja muito mais provável do que acidentes causados por carros autônomos. Mas é isso, estamos em uma transição e o medo é comum, dúvidas surgem mas em pouco tempo estaremos vendo isso como mais uma ferramenta tecnológica do nosso cotidiano como muitas outras que surgiram.
