Oh yeah, played Asherons Call well long ago, actually on a 56k modem believe it or not, patches took forever.

Yeah they closed down the servers and what not, normal game stuff, just, no funding etc, there are actually private servers still active though, donated to one of them few months back, was trying to game on a broken computer, didn't pan out at the time, but good to see the games still active, its a historic thing, of gaming.

As to why we started playing it, probably nostalgia or something knowing me

Personally, one of the coolest things about the game, (I just lost the game again, drat) but, one of the coolest things about AC was the portal affect.

Looked really cool, and sounded interesting I thought, and reminded me of other stuff - game also had a cool chessboard thing in it, that I used to attempt to play (badly I might add) as a kid, near, I forget the place, wherever it was, quite common starter town etc.

Yeah was a cool game, quite surprised no one has ever done anything with it.

Would not have a clue, who my teacher was you know, never told me his name, I did have one though, nice chap, would help me play the game, teach me this, teach me that, very useful when your that young - but yes, gosh the patches took, forever, good to speak with you again mate.

Funny, mainline physics, if you wanted to correlate it to maths, technically, if you wanted to, you could actually keep it your birthday forever if you really wanted to, you would just go out, and faster, and go at the relative speed, as to the orbit, of the calendar system that defines it yeah? pretty easy maths equation - but, that wouldn't be fair to other people, but, very easily do-able.

Even without getting crazy, to be honest, technically, you can always celebrate your birthday, twice a year, you just got on a plane and go to the other side of the planet don't you? easy.

But i mean from a strictly science based position, you would have to, correlate it, to the time, and the place, of the like, date and time of when you were born and like "legally" that would be your birthday, otherwise, lol, people would just keep it their birthday forever wouldn't they? which i mean philosophically, no issue with that, but, you gotta press on at some stage yeah? cant be partying all the time, or one would never get anything done etc. like at some stage someone's gotta work otherwise we wouldn't have the stuff to do, said partying with yeah?

Anyway, I'm going to play some AOE2 and catch up on some astronomy news, few episodes built up morning

Come along chaps, special occasion yeah? - I think the scientists would get a big smile out of this piece, so I will run it, then get on with my Astronomy news roundup, I mean its true ... and really simple math yeah, pretty sure most of kids in society could do it, its orbital mechanics, bit of propulsion, calendar cross referencing, very simple, when you actually stop and think about it, instead of dismissing it as "that's a crazy statement" its like, well no, actually, its literally just propulsion, as it correlates, to a calendar, and a time and date, very simple.
