A simple proof of the very important and useful trigonometry Identity sin2(x) + cos2(x) = 1 is shown. Also the notation for squaring trigonometric functions is shown. Since the proof requires the use of the Pythagorean theorem, this identity is called the Pythagorean trigonometric identity.
