In #MESExperiments 51 I repeat the Atwood Machine drop tests but this time do it from my balcony at a height of about 14 feet. Surprisingly, the drop tests show no significant difference for the nonmagnets, magnets in attraction, or the magnets in repulsion. I performed 10 tests for each type, and the results fluctuated closely around the 8 second mark. I was expecting a significantly slower drop time for the magnets in repulsion because of the results of my earlier 90 cm drop height tests. Note that I only performed the earlier tests 3 times and the height was much lower.

Nonetheless, in my opinion these balcony tests are conclusive in that they show no significant interplay between the magnets and gravity. If there is any anomalous effects, it might during the initial acceleration from stand still. Further tests are needed, including high acceleration tests far greater than gravity, which may possibly reveal that magnets in repulsion have an increased inertial resistance to change.
