In this video, I go further into ecology and discuss populations of species, which are the number of organisms of the same species in an area. Since populations are usually impractical to count, models are used to estimate the population using a measured population density and accounting for the maximum carrying capacity that a given environment can maintain. Many populations typically grow exponentially at the initial stage, but then the growth rate slows down as the limits of the environment are reached – this is modelled through the logistic equation.

Previous predictions of the carrying capacity of Earth have been hindered by technological advancements and transfer across the world, such as in the Third Agricultural Revolution in the 1950s and 1960s. During this period, new technologies, including high-yielding varieties (HYVs) of cereals, were adopted, which greatly increased food production.

I keep pondering the fact that someOne took the populations of all major to mid-sized cities on the planet and added them up.  They got a bit over 500 million!

Are We to believe 7.5 billion People live in the boonies?

Or...?
