When your urine is clear, it could be an indication of appropriate water consumption, this can alter the balance of electrolytes in the blood. The consumption of water pills or diuretics also increases urine output, and the urine may be a very clear one too.
Diabetes also increases urine output, as well as makes the patient feel thirsty regularly, and with this, clear urine is produced.

The color of urine varies greatly, the color produced is dependent on the amount of fluid consumed. It is fluids that dilate yellow pigments in urine, so the more water is consumed, the clearer the urine will look. When less water is consumed, the yellow color will be stronger. Some urine colors could turn out beyond what is normally typical, they could turn; into cloudy white, green, blue, red, dark brown, and orange.

The appearance of red urine is a very serious problem, red or pink urine could be a result of;
Health issues that make blood appear in the urine, include an enlarged prostate, tumors that are not cancerous, cysts, and kidney stones. Some cancers can also bring about blood in urine, and extremely strenuous exercises that can result in bleeding.

Medications, and food like blackberries, beets, and rhubarb can also result in urine being red or pink.

Orange urine color could be caused by the intake of certain vitamins like A and B-12, some chemotherapy medications used for the treatment of cancer, or some that can be used to reduce swelling. On the other hand, however, orange urine could be an indication of a liver or bile duct, particularly in the presence of light-colored stools. Dehydration could also be a significant contribution to an orang urine.

A person's urine could become green or blue as a result of; the intake of a brightly colored food dye which could cause green urine. Medications used for the treatment of depression, and pain, medicine that helps people relax before surgery, and arthritis can also make urine green.

A rare health problem called familial benign hypercalcemia can make children have blue urine as well, some urinary tract infections caused by some bacteria can also lead to green urine.

How about when your urine is dark brown or cola-colored?
Certain food types like rhubarb, fava beans, or aloe can result in dark brown urine, and some medications like the one used to treat constipation and seizures could lead to dark brown urine.

Kidney and liver disorders as well as some form of urinary tract infections could turn one's urine dark brown. Muscle injury occurs as a result of intense exercises, this kidney could also result in kidney damage.

When nausea and vomiting are experienced during pregnancy, it could result in dehydration, which could produce a dark urine color. Family history, age, health issues, and intense exercise are risk factors that can contribute significantly to the change in urine color.

A doctor needs to be contacted instantly if any of these symptoms are noticed;

  • Pain or burning sensation during urination.
  • Bloody urine.
  • An urgent need to urinate especially when accompanied by thirst.
  • Foul-smelling urine could be a sign of UTI or other forms of infection.
