What Science Says about When Coitus (Intercourse) is Productive

I was talking to someone yesterday and we discussed sexual intercourse, I mean consensual coitus. She was of the opinion that intercourse can be done at anytime, and as usual, everyone is entitle to their opinion but when would a person have a productive intercourse? Does science explain when two opposite sex can enjoy coitus, or does it explain when we can have productive intercourse

The male testes which is made up of seminiferous tubules produces sperm cells, and the sperm cells are produced in large number. While males produce sperm cells at an alarming rate, it takes beyond sperm production continuously. The male testosterone level is very high in the morning, which comes with increased sex drive and that is a good reason why males usually have an erection in the morning. Males would be sure to have an increased performance in the morning. Endorphins and oxytocin are also high in the morning and these hormones are responsible for connection and bonding.

Compared to the male, the female has a sex cycle which is quite exciting. Statrting from the Ovary which is stimulated by the Follicle Stimuling hormone, the female sex cycle would need studying to get a productive intercourse. The female sex cycle is a 24 to 35 day cycle depending on the woman but 28 days is the most common, and the ovary follicle is a layer of cell that encompasses the ovum, and the Ovum is also known as an egg or Oocyte. At the begin of the circle the Follicle Stimuling hormone causes about 6 to 12 ovarian follicles to start to develop. The goal of this cycle is to successfully release an egg from the ovary and prepare the lining of the uterus for a potential egg when fertilized. Luteinizing Hormone is another hormone from the pituitary that increases during ovulation which starts on day 14. During Ovulation, the egg is released from a matured follicle. Only one follicle is always matured even though it starts with a few ones and when the matured egg is released, it last for only 24 hours.

Let me quickly discuss estrogen. It is one of the female sex hormones while the second one is progesterone. Estrogen is a combination of hormones Estriol, Estradiol, and Estrone. Estradiol is the most potent, and it is poroduced in the ovary and released into the bloodstream. Estrogen is also produced in the adrenal cortex but the content produced in the adrenal cortex is in minute amount. Estrogen is very important in women especially during puberty causing the increase of the Uterus, the increase in size of the fallopian tube, the ovaries, the vaginal cannal, the external genitalia (labium majora and minora), increase in the fat in the genitilis, the mons pubis, the inside linin of the vaginal canal becomes thicker (stratified squamous epitelium), they increase the growth of the breast and milk production which also involves progesterone. Generally, estrogen prevents osteoclast thereby preventing osteoporosis but then it is more in women than in men. Estrogen in women makes the skin smoother, softer, as a result of increased blood vessels that supplies the skin.

At about day 14, estrogen levels begin to increase and this causes the increase in libido and sex drive. Let's not forget that sperm cells can last 3 to 5 days in the woman after intercourse, so this means that if a person has sex with a woman three to five days prior to their ovulation, they could possibly fertilize the egg when it is released. Also, if the intercourse occur on day 14 or 15, then it would be reproductive. Let's also put at heart that the first 14 days is important in getting an egg to be released and it is knoen as the Follicular phase, while 15 to 28 prepare the uterus inside lining and it is known as the luteal phase. While men creates lots of sperm cells, women produce just one female egg, so when do women become more reproductive in term of on a daily stand point. In women, Estrogen level increases in the afternoon and evening but falls in the morning. Also, there is an increase cortisol level in the afternoon.

Actually, when it comes to pleasure, people derive that at different times, although science has proven that at some times some hormones level increases, but when it comes reproduction, the males are able to reproduce the sperm cells everyday but the for women the egg is released on the 14th day of cycle to the fallopian tube and the egg waits for 24 hours to get fertilized. Since the sperm cell can live in the body for about 3 to 5 days, then it can fertilize the egg within two days to the egg being released and when the egg is released.
