Touring the 2nd Edition of CinVigo 2024 / SublimeSunday Science🌡 🔬

Hi guys! If there is something good that politicians should always do is to promote events that encourage the imagination and intelligence of young people, and this has been a good example of the Mayor of Vigo, although he is very criticized for other things, I really applaud this.

Today I was visiting the second edition of CinVigo. It is a science fair where kids from schools in different cities participate and it takes place at the Puerta del Sol in Vigo.

It is a very exciting activity for the students and where they develop all their creativity to be able to win the prizes offered, which can range from equipment to study to university scholarships.

Hola chicos! Si hay algo bueno que los políticos siempre deben hacer es promocionar eventos que  incentiven la imaginación y la inteligencia de los jóvenes, y este ha sido un buen ejemplo del Alcalde de Vigo, aunque es muy críticado por otras cosas, esto de verdad que si se lo aplaudo.

Hoy estuve recorriendo la segunda edición de CinVigo. Es una feria científica donde participan chicos de escuelas de diferentes ciudades y tiene lugar en la Puerta del Sol en Vigo. 

Es una actividad muy emocionante para los alumnos y donde desarrollan toda su creatividad para poder ganar los premios ofrecidos, que pueden ser desde equipos para estudiar hasta becas universitarias.

It is very gratifying to see the faces of these kids every time they go up to collect their awards, maybe in the future we will see some of these youngsters win bigger prizes for their inventions and research!

Es muy gratificante ver el rostro de estos niños cada vez que suben a recoger sus premios, tal vez en un futuro veamos alguno de estos jóvenes ganar premios más grandes por sus inventos y sus investigaciones!

The whole activity took place under a blazing sun, but that did not matter when it came to support these kids in their dreams, each team had a QR code in their booth where the public could support them with their vote.

Toda la actividad se desarrollo bajo un sol abrazador, pero eso no importó a la hora de apoyar a estos chicos en sus sueños, cada equipo tenía en su stand un código QR donde el público podía apoyarlos con su voto.

Some projects dealt with inventions such as: Cycling vests with crossing and stop lights, as well as a sensor that sounded when a vehicle came too close, very ingenious, right? Another invention consisted in creating a kind of pipes and tanks to take advantage of rainwater to generate electricity for the streets and a watering system for plants!

Algunos proyectos trataban de inventos tales como: Chalecos para ciclistas con luces de cruces y de stop, así como también un sensor que sonaba cuando un vehículo se acercaba demasiado, muy ingeniosos no? Otro invento consistía en crear una especie de tuberías y tanques para aprovechar el agua de lluvias para generar la electricidad de las calles y un sistema de riego para las plantas! 

These kids created bricks from cardboard and reusable waste and thus impact the environment less, I thought it was great but when I asked them if these bricks resist the heavy rains of Vigo, then they replied that they had not evaluated that detail yet, I laughed but I still thought it was great idea of these kids!

Estos chicos crearon ladrillos a partir de cartones y desechos reutilizable y así impactar menos el medio ambiente, me pareció genial pero cuando les pregunté si estos ladrillos resisten las lluvias intensas de Vigo, entonces respondieron que no habían evaluado ese detalle aún, me dio risa pero igual me parecio genial la idea de estos niños! 

In this case, the young people did not invent anything, but they made us aware of the amount of sugar in some of the foods we eat every day and of which we have no idea how much sugar is inside. So they made a sample of the amount of sugar for each drink or food they investigated.

En este caso los jóvenes no inventaron nada pero nos hicieron concientizar de la cantidad de azúcar que hay en algunos de los alimentos que se consumen a diario y de los cuales no se tiene idea de cuanta azúcar tienen en su interior. Así que hicieron una muestra de la cantidad de azúcar por cada bebida o alimento que ellos investigaron.

It was an atypical Sunday for me , but it was fun and very hopeful because I already know that there are many kids who are still amazed by science in this world where all young people just want to be "influencer" of social networks.

Fue un domingo atípico para mí , pero fue divertido y muy esperanzador porque ya sé que hay muchos chicos que aún se maravillan por la ciencia en este mundo donde todos los jóvenes solo quieren ser "influyente" de las redes sociales
